The bad things about AstroTurf are;
- the loss of habitat for wildlife
- the use of fossil fuels to create it
- the loss of soil to install it
- the non-biodegradability of it
- the lack of drainage it provides
- the leaching of more plastic into the environment
It’s a fucking pox and should be banned. Only lazy, selfish cunts install it.

Yebbut the environmental good that a leaf blower provides more than makes up for that lot.

Some people get a price they want in their head and refuse to budge from it, regardless of how realistic it is. There is a house in the area I am/was looking at that looks like its from a horror show, not just bad decor, actual murder horror show, and they haven't budged on price for about 16 months, its still over priced and looking more so each month.

Seconded.
My old boss ripped up his whole garden and replaced it with Astro turf, went from natural grass to plastic hell, I always suspected he was a sociopath.

Yep. I couldn’t / wouldn’t pay 1M for that.

In same position in SW, other half is from Yorkshire and grew up in fields and countryside and wants a garden, and another room in case we try for little person no.2.
Places that are already modernised are out of our price range and the ones that need doing up are at the top of what we can afford with an extra £50k-£70k to make them work for modern living. -

Just pave over the fucker. Best decision I ever made.

• #25085
Yeah, once you get the last body in its all low maintenance from then on.

Not SW but would you consider Catford. The Victorian homes just south of Mountsfield Park have quite sizeable gardens.

The bad things about kids are;
- the loss of habitat for wildlife
- the use of fossil fuels to bring one up
- the loss of soil to build the extension so there's room in the house
- the non-biodegradability of the nappies and wetwipes used
- the increased drainage required
- the leaching of more humans into the environment
- the terrifying potential for one more Liverpool fan
They're a fucking pox and should be banned. Only
lazy, selfish cunts have one. - the loss of habitat for wildlife

I’m born and raised SW london and Catford is too far out for my zone 2 preciousness.
My missus spent a decade in Herne Hill so looking in and around there, so tulse hill, East dulwich (if we’re lucky), Peckham but bathrooms are on the ground floor behind the kitchen so require extension to solve the layout problem, West and upper Norwood, etc.. -

The front garden of the house we are buying has it, its not a large patch, about 1m x 1.5m but first thing my other half said when going to view was "that'll be gone immediately"

Posted this request in the DIY thread and now realise it's kind of the opposite of DIY as I'm asking for someone else to do it:
Any recommendations for a company to replace front door / frame / adjoining window with composite/FD30? I've got a few quotes from local places (I'm SE London) but maybe someone knows a better company further out. Please advise if you've had anything similar done! -

The good thing about kids is that they are easy to clean with leafblowers.

So you're saying leafblowers are the key to all our problems?

I just had my new timber, double-glazed sash windows installed last weekend. Measured up myself and had them made by Eurostyl in Poland. Nice quality, and cost me just under £4k for 7 windows with custom paint job, secure by design locks, blah, blah. Got my builder to install with an additional hand for two days, so that's £400 labour, but I need some finishing plaster work and architraves re-fitted.
I’m very happy with my Velfac windows so far - they quote pretty quick too. The pricing was a bit mad, jumped around a few thousand both ways then eventually settled on what we think is a pretty good deal... may have been a mistake on their part.
