Absolutely shocking draw for Spurs. No last 16 revenue to pay for the new stadium.
Might mean they’re better equipped to stay the course in the league though.
United, Liverpool and City should all be fine.

So it looks unlikely that Tottenham will have a crack at the Europa. They will have to finish third in that group to qualify.

Some exciting groups in that draw.
Looking forward to that Barcelona match especially. Only team in our group that I’m worried about (famous last words)That Liverpool Napoli PSG group looks mighty tasty, as does the Man Utd, valencia, juventus one..

Sad for Burnley, but I'd say it is probably for the best regarding their Premier League status.
-
• #146483
Shocking game. They had about 20 clear chances to score and fluffed them all bar one that came too late.

Tough night at the Turf tonight. So many chances compared to normal and we just couldn't put them away.
Feel pretty heartbroken that Europe is gone for the foreseeable future but can't really criticise them for tonight's performance.
On the upside, £2.50 a pint in Burnley

I do wonder how we ended up with such a tough set of games though. I was expecting part time postmen in Albania but we've had some bloody tough teams.
Rangers and a few others have had some terrible teams

Might get a stab proof vest for the CL aways.. bad holiday draw. Should get through it...should
-
• #146487
Man City should get through.
ManU and Liverpool may get through.
Tottenham will be lucky to get through.

sensing an anti spurs bias here big man. Don't go all mikec on me, and not realise how often you post about the mighty spurs.
I think we can get out of that group. But I may be doing a disservice to PSV and Inter, as I'm not aware of their current form or quality of players. But I'd rather be in a group with high stakes and good teams than succumb weakly as we did first time round in a group "we're supposed to top".
Anyway hope Chelsea actually give the Europa League a good go. More english teams should, and if we don't make it into the knockout stages, I expect the sheriff to put out the best team he can in the Europa. -

Draw's shite sometimes. When Everton made the champions league qualifiers in 2005/6 we got pulled against Villarreal who ended up semi finalists that year (and but for a bottled Riquelme penalty probably would have made the final).
-
• #146491
You misunderstood I don’t want you to win it, I want you to take it SERIOUSLY.
I want every English team that’s in the Europa league to take it seriously, and not just sack it off because they believe the money from league position is more important, and that the champions league is the be all and end all of European competitions.. -
• #146492
no apology needed.
European football can fuck itself in the face as far as I am concerned anyway.
am only interested in the domestic competitions. and that interest is waningscruples

Chelsea have been in the Europa once before and won it. How many times have Spurs been in it and not won it?

Corney dear fellow.
I do have an inate anti Spurs bias. I am open about that. I also have an inate anti ManU bias as well as biases against all other non Chelsea sides in all European Leagues. (Well, apart from Clapton CFC, Ross County and Maccesfield.)
But look at the draw. Spurs have a very difficult draw. Man City have an easy one and ought to top the group. The other two will probably end up second or third. Of course, anything can happen but that is a reasonable assessment.

I hope the Spuds get twatted... And everyone else... Fuck all that 'I really hope all the English teams do well' bollocks...
Chelsea are the last English side to have won the CL and I hope it stays that way until we next win it. I also hope that we remain the only London side to win the CL and that Guardiola never wins it at Citeh.

• #146496
I didn't misunderstand you... I was with you in the Effra when you were willing a non-English team to snatch the CL trophy from us...
What's good for the goose, etc...
-
• #146497
So, we're in agreement...
-
• #146498
Of course we are about this and so many other things.
-
• #146499
So even though you won that under Benitez, you’re still claiming that silverware? I thought for you it was league or nothing at all?
If you won it under Sarri would it mean more? Would you be proud of it, or just bring it out to try to slap down other teams.. -

I prefer to remember when we watched Barca knock you out with that iniesta screamer, at the coach and horses..
