  • Cheers @dbr @TW .

I'll do the making of whatever project I can think for it. It's just the planking and storing part I have no experience with. Can either of you recommend someone I could hire to just come and plank it for me? I'll investigate the chainsaw mill but suspect I'll get a better result if i just pay someone to do it.

For storage, is the deepest darkest corner of my garage suitable? Do I need to treat it or anything?

  • Garage will be fine if you can give up the space for a while. As @umop3pisdn says, it's good practice to keep it off the ground, just a couple of lengths of pine or something underneath will help. You could also put dividers between each plank if you're really committed to sparklemotion. Make sure you don't forget/put off using it though : ) My dad probably took about 4 tons of oak and cedar from the farm when we left it 20 odd years ago. He's still got most of it and has brought it with him to every house he's been at since.

I've got a dozen planks in the alley outside covered with a tarp and off the ground. It'll be fine for as long as it takes me to figure what I want to do with the stuff.
