Sorry we didn't get a chance to chat and sorry to hear you weren't feeling great. I was on the ISEN.
The crappy rain for the first 100km surely didn't make it easy to get going. Within the group I was riding 2 of them dropped out in Gala after 300 on the return leg from Alston. I knew if I stopped here for kip in my van I'd probably pack it in too as rain was only scheduled to get worse. So I pushed onto Johnstonebridge where I rested for a couple hours. Rain cleared up in the morning and I managed to drag myself around for a 9pm finish. Getting rather close to maximum value.
What was Mrs. TSK riding?
I was on a blue Planet X with TT bars. Didn't get round. I'd been ill for a few weeks previous with Campylobacter and not really recovered enough. Fell apart after leaving Eskdalemuir and struggled with even the gentlest climbs so turned around at Gretna and headed back slowly.
Ended up doing just 200k. Was kind of feeling better after a couple of long stops on the way back but there was no way I would have gotten around.
Mrs. TSK's first attempt at a 600 and it didn't go too well. She ended up calling for a pickup at the top of the road to Johnstonebridge.
