I'm an ex-Glorse bod, born there in the 1960s, left in 1990. Getting fonder of it again. It was living (or more specifically going fishing) there that got me into cycling (usually in wellies).

If you like birds the Bird of Prey centre in Newent is awesome.

Thanks for the recommendation. I keep seeing signs for it, and Slimbridge. I saw some pretty average falconry at Batsford Arboretum.

I have a couples pass, you could pretend to be my husband and we could go together!

I'm up for that. Birds of prey and deceit is much better than birds of prey alone.

Spent a lovely week last summer round Glos/Wilts border. Greatly enjoyed cannoeing from Symonds Yat to Monmouth, just wish there'd been a bit more water over the rapids. Stunning bit of the country you fellas live in.

I was born in ‘nam, though here in London now. My mum still lives there though, so get back a few times a year. Usually bring the bike as the riding is lovely.

I've been eyeing up a Harry Quinn bike on eBay, nostalgic about the Harry Quinn I bought in 1987 from Williams when they were on Pittville Street round the corner from the Masonic lodge. I think it had been gathering dust and the built it up nicely with 500ex groupset and mavic wheels. 167 pounds.

Wow, that takes me back. Thrilled to get my first racer from Williams at a similar time. Still visit from time to time to visit the folks; always take the bike. Definitely appreciate the area far more now than when I was a teenager.

Yay, Gloucestershire. I’m in Stroud.

Also can this be merged with my Archers thread?

Stroud: a bit of a weird place when I knew it. River running blue with dye from the mills where they made ceremonial military garb, meningitis, dodgy retired priests, Scooter Club of GB disco in the Marshall rooms, I worked a summer in the wine shop and cycled between Nam and Stroud every day getting trained up fro a ride to Switzerland that autumn.

Last time I was in Stroud, I walked past five separate sets of Morris dancers in the town centre.
We seem to have a few people in the area now
@Jimmy_Fingers @MetalMelly @dom @hanford @miro_o iirc
