Unless this job is a precursor to an as yet, unannounced transition period!

Or A50 extension.

On pay, while it says pay band SCS1, that's the very highest Senior Civil Service pay band and thus I don't think it has exact bounds, but may be up to about £150k?
In a big national co, equivalent would be maybe £1500 or a bit more a day (and quite possibly working and paid 6-7 days a week)?

Band 1 is £95k to £120k
I believe that there is a band above Band 1 which is flexible to some extent for rare usage.

I think the going rate for this sort of position in a big national co would be 225k+. There are some businesses who would pay £1m+ to the right person.

I am thinking about returning to IT work after 7 years parenting.
Shall I apply for a laugh?

They might make you an offer you can't refuse.

And risk getting it? No!

I could channel spud in Trainspotting.

Your transition is ma mission, like?

Unless this job is a precursor to an as yet, unannounced transition period!
It is impossible, in the current situation, for us to have a transition as that would require a withdrawal agreement.

But the committed Brexiteer will obviously be willing to do it for a tenth of market value, right? Especially as it's such a guaranteed success that they'd be able to name their price afterwards. An investment in their career as well as leading the country back to glory.

"Transmission"

What if you get it?

Great nights..

£1500 or a bit more a day
Yes, that was the figure I was thinking. Amusingly, anyone who can command that certainly won't have to resort to working for the Home Office because, you know, Brexit is going to fuck up everyone else's systems too so they'll be in demand.

If you are qualified for this role you won't apply for it, if you aren't then you might.
I'd suggest that even if they succeed in recruiting someone then they won't be shall we say ideal for what is going to be a challenging role.
Personally i'd run a fucking mile at 5 times the pay currently offered.

• #13219
I have no experience. Might apply.
-
• #13220
You realise the above makes no sense whatsoever.
-
• #13221
it's what the winning side democratically voted for
Ah. That old line. Brexit means brexit.
But what was that? Hard brexit? Soft Brexit? Nafta? WTO Rules? ECA? Don't remember those choices being on the ballot. But then, neither was Margaret Thatcher's penis...

I may have missed this before, but what is your ideal Brexit outcome? If you're asking me personally?
Yes. That was my reading. What is your ideal outcome?
I'm also confused by what you meant. It sounds a bit like you want locally devolved power. Is that right?
If so, would any outcome where there is no supremacy of EU law be OK? And how do you feel about fitting product regulations into that - like say the safety regulations on windscreens/ similar?
-
• #13224
So your ideal Brexit outcome is that everyone who voted Brexit has their own personal idea of Brexit become realised.
Fuck me the #gammonlogic is overpowering.

But what does that entail? You're happy to negotiate a trade deal with India for example that is contingent on vastly increasing immigration from there but shutting off our borders to European countries we've been cultivating economic and social ties with for generations?
I know it makes you poor soft headed Brexiteers soil yourselves when it's pointed out to you (repeatedly) but we helped design and implement the EU and all its institutions, so if we you don't like them (or the conditions of leaving) you've only got the UK to blame...
Something else that just clicked when thinking about the job is that a procurement of that scale would have to come under OJEU regulations which in theory takes a minimum of six months and in reality usually about 9 months.
It would take longer to legally procure the new border system than the delivery deadline. It is literally, demonstrably, impossible.
