I rly appreciate the effort but do we have to sit and chat about how 650b isn’t 26inch ;-)
-

As far as I know 559 = 26" mountain bike tire - ebay link.

Yeah but .....
‘Sport Contact Speed’ and ‘Sport Contact II’ are different tyres.
I need 650b. Continental only produce a 650b ‘Sport Contact’ in the ‘Speed’ version it seems... which might be fine. Nobody on here has tried them so they’re a bit of an unknown.

Surely if it has the name speed it’s gotta be even better right?

I was taking it v easy coming back - no Strava segments where won on the journey home...

Sorry, my mistake was thinking that we had all moved on from the 650B trend, I thought you were looking for 559.

World's worst photo of my new toy, the well-used orange Velo Orange that's been hanging around for a while on Freshtripe - I finally caved.
I'm going to build it up with plenty of beater/parts bin stuff, then cheap 650b WTB rims from Planet X, a dynamo hub, and SRAM 1x11 with a bar end shifter. Racks and most likely basket will be moved over from my Pompino.
The main thing left to decide is whether I stump up for TRP Hylex, or make do with BB7/Spyres/Juin Tech. I've had plenty of use out of a TRP Hy-Rd and it's fine, but it's not remotely in the same class as even the super cheap MTB hydraulics I've used. It'd cost about £100 more going for Hylex though...
Anyone who's used them have opinions on the Hylex?

I used Hylex on a £500 charge and it was the best thing about the bike. If you don’t want to go geared hydro and are starting from scratch I think it’s worth it.

SRAM bar ends, Hylex - you're building @TvH 's Salsa. Except he painted it No Jellybeans White instead of leaving the orange. Ask what he thinks of the setup?
Edit: oh hang on, he's literally posted it on this very page. #ScrollingIsForSuckers

SRAM bar ends, Hylex
Don't think it was his idea either, it comes stock on Arkoses too.

Cheers. Beginning to think I'll be annoyed later on if I don't go hydro now

Hylex is life. Closest thing to MTB hydraulics going. But then I like bar ends.
If not Hylex, then get Juin Tech R1

Thanks, I also like bar ends. Plus, I picked up just the rear SRAM 11 speed shifter for £35 from Planet X.

Saw that on eBay. Very on here.
unrelated, new favourite hashtag - #ランドナー which i'm 95% sure translates to randonneur. Sweet functional bikes, awesome Japanese scenery.
