  • it's like dbad but with discs.

  • That looks very nice.

  • Glad you went for the 6603! Looking good.

  • yep! spot on gear ratio at 42/30

  • Check it out, John Prolly has been reading this thread. Quoted from The Radavist:

When I was an architect, a few clients came to us with project proposals, revolving around a key object like a doorknob, a bookcase, or some other heirloom piece. In essence, they wanted us to design a house around this object. Believe it or not, this happens a lot with bikes as well in what I call “Genesis components.” Someone has a stem like a Ti Grammo Art or a crank like a Kooka and wants to build a complete around that part. More often than not, it’s that heritage piece that really ties a build together. These unifying pieces don’t have to be vintage and they don’t have to be the Genesis piece. Take [Amey's DBAD] build for example.

  • Genuinely thing Prolly would rate dbad. Needs something older or better than sora though

  • Sora is the soul of this bicycle #atmo

Having said that once I take it to Winston to lower the FD braze on (or get rid and have clamp on) I am thinking 10 speed Campag with some neutral silver square taper triple for sub-compact.

Dunno when it will all happen .. or I might just sell it.

  • How did you like the Sora on it, anyways?

  • great for all the 30 miles or so I have ridden on it.

  • So that article is all about a man throwing new bars on an old Schwinn? Bugger me. I’m putting a new rear tyre on my MTB next week, maybe they can come over and make a short documentary about me.

  • I will still buy DBAD from you. My offer of £39 stands firm. So firm.

  • TBF to Prolly, it's hardly an article, probs banged that out while doing a shit.

  • Amey literally built a disc-braked Genesis after dbad too, prescient as ever...

  • Considering I build a new bike every 100km or so that should be fine

  • LOL, Sora as a Genesis part?...He means a shit Phil Collins Genesis part right?

  • CdF looks great. Did think it was DBAD but didn't have my glasses on.

  • Do you like disc brakes?

  • Done. Waiting on Mack workshop rando bag with VO decaleur

Do you have more details about the bag please? also what size tyres are they? 32?

  • 35c G one all round.

    Bag will be:
Work with 42cm (ritchey neo classic) handlebars
    An internal holster for D-lock
    Sewed in key fob/ring
No internal compartments so the footprint can remain tight and compact around a 13" laptop plus padded case
    Transperant map pocket
Off bike carry strap attachment (and strap)
    Two removable bar-facing pouches
    White liner
    VX21 Black outer

Also what was the pricing like? you dont need to be specific if you don't want. I just mean compared to say swift?

  • Did he give you a date?

Yes we have been in touch, he is good to respond emails, hopefully next week(ish), I also sent the VO Decaleur to him.

I paid for the bag on his shop, £120

  • Thinking out loud; lets talk gears.

On the genesis I currently have 11-25 (lol) with 42/30. e.g. I spent maybe 2 mins in total in the 11t cog of a 4 hour ride yesterday.
11 is definitely too high and 25 is definitely not low enough loaded uphill. When I say loaded I mean light loaded not a full pannier set up. I will be taking this bike to Pyrenees also but I have a long cage mech for that.

The cassette was 2nd hand and dead anyway.

    So I am looking at 2 cassettes, a Shimano R8000 14-28 and a Miche 13-29.
