I'd like to have some nice coffee made for when I wake up this winter.
Is one of these linked to a timed plug a good idea? - https://www.horshamcoffeeroaster.co.uk/products/wilfa-svart-classic-coffee-maker
I think I remember someone on here saying they did just that.
Any other suggestions welcome.

Holy hell that puly stuff is astonishing.
The inside of my klean kanteen and technivorm are sparkling. Bet it'd do a cracking job exfoliating my feet.

works best if you use hot water, gets a right fizz on.

+1 for Steampunk. Worth a wee trip on the train to North Berwick to visit them and avoid the Festival crowds; amazing café and roastery.
Aside from the above @tomatoe recommended, worth hopping on a bus to Leith (where I live) and visiting Bross Bagels, Printworks Coffee and Toast, nice wee café and wine bar at the Shore.
Also Ronde in Stockbridge is a nice cycling café à la LMNH with good soup from Union of Genius and Square Mile coffee I think- they changed from Steampunk a wee while back; likely to be showing cycling on the telly too.
Hit me up if you ever need any tips; it’s been my home for 24 years. It can be a bit bewildering at this time of year..

Catering pack marshmallow box this time!

It’s great, but I think it did for the rubber o rings in my gaggia classic.
I guess that’s the downside of actually being effective.

My bialetti looks like this inside. Should I avoid making coffee with it?

In my experience they get marked and pitted very early on in life; I try to give it a scrub with a little brush and will try descaler once in a while but to be honest just assumed that aluminium did that naturally, although I could be completely wrong.

Looks nicer than mine and I still brew with it (though I do want a new one).

Mine were more crudely finished on the interior to begin with and so collect more schmutz as I go; they (Top Moka) make better coffee than my Bialettis and so sold them off. I wouldn't worry about it.

Can anyone give me some recommendations for cafes in York? I'm there for a weekend soon so want to know where to go. I've pulled a list from Brian's Coffee Spot but it would be good to see what people recommend.

Spring Espresso! It's been a while but I remember it being very good.

Cheers, that's on the list.

Planning on making some espresso martinis and cold brew martinis for a party. For the cold brew, anyone have any ideas of how much coffee per litre I should be using. Normally is use 80g, but feel I should make this a fair bit more concentrated?

What's next up from a Silvia?
I'm thinking I maybe can't justify the ECM Technica Profi that I had set my sights on...

I think a ratio of about 1:8 is what was recommended when I looked last. so 125g for 1l.
I saw a suggestion to try Patron XO cafe cocoa instead of coffee liqueur which I might give a go next time.
Though typically I go for plain vodka, illy coffee liqueur and espresso from my gaggia, one shot of each shaken about the place but not spilt.

Rocket Appartamento I guess. I assume you want to move to a heat exchanger from a single boiler and the Rocket seems to be one of the more popular ones. Friend of mine has one and it's nice.

For food, coffee good, not outstanding, Mannion's and Fossgate Social are both worthwhile. I'd second the Spring Espresso recommendation.

When we make a 10L batch of cold brew for espresso martini for clients, we use 2.55kg coffee to 12L water (20% loss factor)
Then add 1kg sugar, dissolved in 1L hot water, plus 3 to 4 litres vodka.
Then we stick it in a keg and infuse it with nitrogen :)
Mr Black cold coffee liqueur is the bomb, as a side note.
Ha I loved it.
No idea what the order came in the other day - as it happens I was out but my wife was in - 4 boxes and a tub of Puly. Presume shoebox obvs : )
