I'm looking at buying something like the attached Rolex Cellini from C24. The only issue (apart from cost!) is that the crown appears not to be an original Rolex as there's no logo on it. Am I right that this would greatly affect it's value?
There are several for sale that show a logo on the crown but their condition does not appear as good and they are even more monies...
I am also considering the Omega attached...

I think you've answered your own question there. I'd be wary of buying anything on C24, especially Rolex

Hmm, thanks. Trouble is I'm limited by being in the backwater that is Sydney... I've visited a few real stores here and apart from being even more overpriced the choice is limited.
The watch is a gift for my wife - basically started as a joke when we were a lot younger that I'd buy her a rolex. Well, now is the time but it's one of the few rolexes I can stomach!
FWIW I'd happily buy a JLC, Omega, Baum & Mercier etc. but, well, Rolex...

Bootsales are funny places. Man had a ‘bag o watches’ that he was insistent on selling as a job lot. two people before me passed them up. Which each refusal the price lowered and I waited for my turn to view. After I bought them a man spun me a line about being a collector and wanted to know if I’d sell five that he had picked out. Yeah right. My four favourites are ....

That's cool! The Hamilton is classy. Might be able to buff that up with some polywatch.

In essence saying he'd take the good 5 and leave you with the shit? HA!

I really like that Benrus.

Whats the giant hunk of brushed metal in the middle?
-
• #28912
Yeah the benrus was one of the five or so he picked out.
The hunk if it’s the one to the right is Almary another one he picked or the gold coloured one is labelled Prim@ChainBreaker yeah he thought he’d cherry pick and I would have absolutely no idea.

Benrus is a mechanical alarm, love them! Second crown for setting the time that the lovely mechanical buzz goes off, and winding up said buzz. Hope it works.

Soon as you saw the ‘H’ you grabbed the bag, right?

Nah, it was the Marc by Marc Jacobs gold painted thing that got him :P

Yeah the H , I was also mesmerised by the Richard, not heard of it before.
The ‘collector’ tried to bum steer me “the Michael kors is good, it’s got the serial number on the back”
The thing is ghastly!
@Stonehedge MarcJ hahaha

The dirty dozen seldom talked about.
MarcJ is maybe the best of the bunch, even though the inside is a barrel of laughs

If you can read this from start to finish and not go straight to Amazon and buy one, then I congratulate you: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/casio-ae1200wh-1a-world-timer-value-proposition. Wasn't even aware of this watch. I fear this is the start of a G-Shock habit.
Nice one :)
