It's not an RRA record.

• #2078
As an expert - what logistical differences might this mean for his attempt?
-
• #2079
Not sure as I'm only going off that one photo - but it would appear that he's riding unsupported on a road bike. Very different to a TT bike and a support crew of about 12 people which I had for lejog. The rra is very strict about rules and officials bring present whereas, from what I understand, the lejogle (or joglejog) record is much more informal.
The current record, as mentioned above, was set as joglejog by a chap called James McDonald who lives close to the route near Beattock. I understand that he was supported. I have never met him but he gave me loads of useful advice on Twitter regarding Scottish roads when I was prepping.
Would be good if there was a tracker link for KA, see whether he uses the a30 for example. Best of luck to him.

2700km in 5.5 days is 491 km/day. This is quite high for bike packing races? Speaking as someone who is clueless about these things.

Yes, it's a high average but
- it is a shorter duration than TCR / IndyPac
- the roads are better in that he can choose more main roads rather than having TCR parcours to accomodate.
I've pasted below what he did by day in his last TCR. There were some very hilly days which led to shorter distances but, on day 5, with the Alps in his legs, he managed over 500km. I can't understand why he's not using aerobars, though - he normally does and has a very good position on them.

carrying gear
It's a top tube bag and a tool bag!
-
• #2083
Looks like his standard setup for endurance races

Aerobars: I remember mike having those photos done pre: IndiPac and not having bar tape.. maybe it’s just one of those situations.. he’s just not done it yet. Does seem odd he wouldn’t have them for this.

I hope you;re right but there is a picture of him at LE on Instagram/Twitter, taken yesterday just before he set off!
-
• #2086
I've just asked on twitter if there is any tracking or updates site
-
• #2087
Yeh no aerobars then :)
Be great if there’s a tracker for this. Let us know if anything pops up.
-
• #2088
On the Curve Insta they said no tracker...Would love to follow it too.
-
• #2089
Gram drip feeds then. Not good enough. I want data!
-
• #2090
Thanks @wheels_of_fire for the insight.
Seems a strange choice not to use a tracker, especially with all of his hashtag sponsors involvement. I thought they’d want as much publicity as possible.

Jesse is posting updates on his Instagram stories, says Kristoff had five punctures and electrical issues last night and last update over two hours ago, he was leaving knutsford

Five punctures!
UK roads aren't that bad are they? -
• #2093
Bugger a bit late to noble him on the a49 up here .

• #2094
In Preston apparently, so almost quarter of the way in 27hrs ish
-
• #2095
Looks like he was in Edinburgh around four hours ago, so what's that, JOG tomorrow morning depending when he sleeps, which will be 2.5 days, he's gonna be up against it with fatigue and head winds on the way back no? Shame he didn't use a tracker

Little bit of advice please. My lower legs and ankles appear to have swollen to twice the size they normally are after some prolonged exercise. A quick Google confirms this is a thing but has anyone here had anything similar? Before I seek non Internet based medical advice, just wanting some reassurance that it will go down.
-
• #2098
Cheers buddy!
-
• #2099
Probably fluid retention. I had this after PBP. Elevate your legs as much as possible. Resting/sleeping with your legs raised on some pillows should bring the swelling down after a few days or so.

Is he going now no tracking?
Weird.
5 days 18 hours 3mins. Not sure it’s an RRA record though (and that was set JOGLEJOG).
Kristof is certainly being ambitious. He’s no fool so I’m sure he has it all worked out, just hope he hasn’t underestimated such a serious challenge.
