Weather radar for the region, in case anyone's interested :-)

And just happens to be a whole country ahead of everyone else...

But yes, how did that hole get there?
It looks like a conti GP4000. They're known for the occasional sidewall failure at inconvenient moments. Same thing happened to mine in the middle of the nullarbor.
Skinny's boot looks ok, should probably hold. Id prefer it if he got the tape right to the rim but if it fails, it will fail slowly, and he'll probably spot it before it blows.
IDK what FML means. Must Google it some time... -

think he forecast 40 hours from CP4 last night...

FML
"I despair at the unfortunate events which seem to befall me."

FML FFS and LOL are just different bits of punctuation that youth use, they don't really mean anything lol

Severn Bridge ride
There are some beautiful, smooth and quiet climbs south of the A38 and M5 as a variation of that route. Not sure of all the names. Froscester I think is one.

more importantly it was the ride to Hill for the monthly cake fest

Looks like Bjorn and stephane might have arrived at cp4 hand in hand, Thomas Dupin very close too. V interesting race for 2nd on the cards assuming skinny’s boot holds. 🤞🏼

3 people (Bjorn, Stephane, Thomas) chasing two podium places will make it even more interesting.
Those 3 are almost exactly 24h behind Skinny now. That's a huge lead.
Skinny took just over 2 hours to go up and back down the parcours after CP4 so they should all get up and back down before dark.

Yes, will be interesting to see how/if this shuffles 2nd-4th. They are all there now. Going to make for some good footage and stories.

Wonder if any will be tempted to rest at the CP then push to the finish? Maybe too far or too much at this point?

have you never been?
first Sunday of the summer months in the inappropriately named Hill village hall

No, but duly noted.
I’d do Froscester before the cake ;-)

Ohh, and just spotted cap 148 is heading down the “road” that Bjorn turned back on... will see how that works out! Good luck 148.

Part of me hopes it turns out to be a brilliant shortcut...

I warned him but he said the route had been planned a long time ago. I was hoping he would make a RH turn a bit sooner - that's a brand new asphalt road with only a few km of off-road remaining but the road he's taking... he'll soon run out of asphalt and there will be probably 30-40 km off-road... He's got a bit bigger tyres, so he may be OK?

Anyone knows if someone is on a classic 650b 42c Steel bike like the French guy that was 10th (?) last year?
Haven't seen one in those kinesis pictures from the start. -

nice to have news from the front like that. hope it works out.
Late to the thread today but @7ven I hope you had a rest and made the best decision for yourself. I see an epic ride and no failures at all.
