Bjorn reached CP3 exactly 12 hours after skinny.
-
• #1904
Are the two behind making ground on him too? Stephane is consistent barring mishaps, don't know about Dupin. All benefitting skinny anyway, who can now ride at his pace, take less risks suppose.

He’ll welcome another hours sleep and extra time stopping. Maybe have time for another magnum / Fanta

• #1906
yeah, found out about it last year whilst riding and it wasn't pleasant, at all.
I never met frank but you feel connected when out on the road, despite your isolation.

• #1907
Sorry - I thought you would probably know more than me about how it worked!

I feel if Bjorn wants to win this race he cant do TAW next year.
I suspect you are right.
But he maybe enjoys racing more than training, so wouldn't be able to replicate how Skinny does it? -

Bijorn appears to have stopped at CP3 for quite a while. It is very hot out there. Hope he is OK to continue. Stephane is closing the gap on him.
-
• #1910
True. Also I think he has kids? so might be difficult to uphold a Skinny style training program with children.

Looks as though hippy has chosen a route to take him into Budweiss. Wonder if he will ever emerge.

• #1912
Keep his gooch away from anymore brothels and he should be ok.

From TCR instagram:
“Bjorn has had a bad day. Forced to walk to CP3 when his tubeless tyre was slashed in the parcours. Previous day was tough with a headwind, then running out of food and water. He arrived at CP3 close to tears, but has had two sprites and cake and is fixing his tyre. Wants to be on the way soon!”
Sounds rough...

update from Michael serafin

• #1917
It was great fun. I was there for the first two days so I saw the first 30 riders or so. It was amazing how chirpy and polite they all were. Almost everyone was up for a chat and hung about a bit. The first few whizzed through. So did Jurgen Knupe who had overtaken all but 15 of the riders when he arrived. Didn't get a chance to ride the parcours because of the timings of my shift, but heard enough good things to be planning a trip back. It's pretty stunning round there...

79 might have given up.

two sprites and cake
If that can't fix a man, I don't know what can.

Cool, thanks for the update. Nice to hear about it from a different perspective.
Before the TCR6 I had no idea about that corner of the Alps. Hopefully it is not so busy there in the summer like it is in the rest of the Alps.

Oh, sorry, all, no it didn't occur to me at all that that could be related to some unfortunate event.
Perhaps 'the race never took place at all, you've all been had' would have worked better.
-
• #1923
That's very bad luck for Björn, shame that it has probably taken the sting out of the race at the front now. Time to concentrate on hippy's successive visits to famous beer towns.

It's dead quiet. Mangart is pretty busy with traffic because of the views at the top, but I discovered a bunch of paved and gravel climbs that were basically empty. Can't recommend it enough
