• i don't see why they wouldn't

"Because cabbies are the lifeblood of London" and he's a driver therefore innocent in all cases, even when there is overwhelming evidence. They'll find some convenient legal loophole created just for cases like this so the vid can't be used as evidence or something like that.

  • only just noticed while re-watching he nearly clips a pedestrian as well who steps back just before he comes past. fucking hell.

  • Same truck:

  • Dear Phil

Thanks for contacting us on 27 July 2018 about the poor behaviour of the route 159 bus driver. I'm sorry about the drivers dangerous driving, as he forced you over two lanes of traffic putting your life at risk at Trafalgar Square, as you approached the roundabout.

I do appreciate this is unacceptable behaviour from a route 159 bus driver. You have requested for CCTV footage of the incident, and I can confirm that your request and complaint, have been brought to the attention of Abellio London.

They're the bus operating company that runs the route 159 for us and who the driver is directly employed by. With the information that you've kindly provided to us, the driver will be identified.

When a complaint like this is made, a manager will call the driver in for an interview. The CCTV footage from the bus will be viewed to support your complaint. After this, based on the findings, appropriate action will be taken.

The route operators have a range of disciplinary measures which can be taken, depending on the incident and the individual's disciplinary record.

TFL’s policies are geared towards exceeding customer expectations and your feedback will help us improve our services.

Good. Hope they sack the prick

For some added context, driver of a bus moved beside me to my left as we moved away from traffic lights then started moving over into me whilst making direct eye contact with me in his mirror and not indicating. He turned right at the roundabout from the left lane forcing me over towards the centre and past my intended exit

  • Have you also requested a copy of the CCTV footage under the new GDPR rules?

  • Yes but to TFL so hopefully they pass on my request like they say they have. If not, I will ask direct

  • Does GDPR work with non-tfl buses?

Had some Westway coach (endorsed by Her Majesty the Queen) pull alongside in the lane to the right today then proceed to use his bus to force me off my lane because he was in a turn right only one.

He did stop at the next light where since I was going right I sailed past with my finger up hearing behind me "fuck off. Wankerrrrr". Which I found quite funny.

  • Yes, you can request any CCTV footage that has captured images of you.

  • Ah yes, just read the reply again and see you had already requested it.

  • You have to request it from the bus company. If you wait for TfL to ask them the footage will be gone. There’s a page on the TfL website that lists the operating companies and their addresses (search “who runs your bus” or similar) and send them a snail mail request. Footage comes on a CD a few days later in the post.

  • So a few weeks ago I had this close pass on York Way. I mailed the company whose logo was on the lorry and they said it was a supplier who was operating the vehicle but were very apologetic and said they would take it up with the supplier. I chased up yesterday to see where things were at and they said "This was an agency driver who has since left the agency and [company] after his investigation." I kinda feel a bit bad now if he's been canned from his job as a result - I took it up with the company rather than the Met so there could be an internal reprimand and he might learn something, but didnt expect them to go that hard. However, he could have squished me doing a pointless and ill-timed overtake, so maybe its fair enough.

  • Don’t feel bad that he has lost his job.

You or another cyclist could have lost a life with them driving like that.

  • he's been canned from his job as a result..

    Good.

One less prick on york way trying those kinda moves.

  • It could well have happened with the same driver before, and your complaint was just the straw that broke the camel's back

  • Witnessed a Lafarge Cement truck blow through a solid red light this morning across one of the busiest bike routes in the city.

Of course last month they were out in the car park for Bike to Work Week promoting the dangers of sitting in the "danger zone" blind spot of their 15 ton death machines. Almost as if it was all just bullshit PR.

  • bullshit PR

    But they have stickers!

  • May well be the case yeah. Hadn't thought of it like that..

  • Almost as if it was all just bullshit PR.

Quite a few people for the last couple of years have been asking FORS online what sanctions they apply to firms that employ drivers caught playing with phones at the wheel. No response yet. Basically if you fill in a form you get FORS accreditation and..that's it. Nothing the drivers are caught doing makes any difference, so I don't really see the point.

  • If the police have the registration plate of the car in the video then why is the driver being "hunted" by the police.

Don't they usually just look up the registered owners address then send a "who was driving the car at this time/date" letter or actually visit the address to speak with the owner?

...or have I just watched too much Road Wars/Police Interceptors.

  • Watch to the end. His response to the threat of "I'm going to call the police" is "It's a stolen car!!"

  • Looked like a pretty well lived in car to be stolen given the amount of random shit he had in the passenger side.

  • They probably could've got his prints off all those cans he threw too if they'd thought to do so.

  • Had a polite chat with a taxi driver at some lights on Camberwell Rd after noticing youtube on his phone (windscreen mounted). Thought it was odd that it took him time to notice the green light when I passed him up by the Walworth Rd Barclays so reckon he'd been watching a for a while despite him saying the opposite.

What's the forum approved wee handlebar camera suggestion? Thought I'd been seeing less of this sort of thing over the last few months but feel like it might be time to get one.
