  • Todays feature on gcn . Josh’s predictions of the top 3 are already out the window.

  • Some proper route divergence now between @skinny and Bjorn. Should be quite fascinating as to who gets to CP3 first.

Gap holding steady at about 30km - amazingly close after 1500km

  • Wasn't the heat for Bernd Paul, not directly at least.

"Bernd is suffering a little from the sun but so far displays little more than patches of mild sunburn to knees and arms."

"News just in that Bernd Paul, cap 15, has had to scratch after a fall. “Fell off the bike last night - and hardly can't walk. Nothing serious - but need to take the train. Might rest a few days before I'm able to start the trip back home... sorry.” This is deeply disappointing for Bernd who has yet to finish a TCR despite frequent strong starts. We are sorry to see him have to go home too early once again and wish him a speedy recovery."

From the TCR Race Report #3

  • A fall, apparently - He's ok and heading home

    edit see above!

  • David millar is chpt3 so will have been given one I’m sure... Ned visited the Brompton factory, no details as to a purchase or a freebie..

  • Skinny's route looks less direct than Bjorn. Is he going that way for flatter terrain or something?

  • the ones that Millar and Boulting used for the Tour stage preview videos were altered from stock spec (44t rather than 54t rings) and given to them/ITV. I believe there was also something about getting them in the back of a Maserati.

So far it seems that Bjorn's has the edge.
But my guess is that they'll meet at CP3 tonight and tackle the parkour after their rest.
    The fight is on.

  • I read in the TAW fb-group that Bernd had a crash.

  • hope their routes are similar when/if the pass happens, must be quite lonely out there at the moment.

I was racing in Prague this weekend and the roads around there were fantastic, and drivers good with cyclists, despite the town centre being pretty unfriendly to bikes due to cobbles! No idea if this extends very far from the capital..

  • Am I right in thinking they're aiming for the road (labelled 14) that heads North up to the Polish border near Harrachov, some distance West of CP3? That looks like the only sensible way to get to the foot of the parcours. There seems to be very little in it between the leaders' routes, to my inexpert eye.

  • That was my impression with the drivers too, when I raced through the country in North Cape-Tarifa, but some of the smallest roads can be rough. Though I wasn't riding on those exact roads, but very close. A lot nicer roads and traffic than on the Polish side of the border.

  • I've read that bicycles are due to be banned in Prague center - did you hear much about this?

  • not on the bike but in a small car and on foot having just come back from a week's hiking in the north of Czech Republic. Bohemia and the Krokonose Mountains. Have to say the quality of the roads was mainly excellent - even the really small ones (which we used now and again to join hiking routes).

Very hill mind but then these amazing men and women are used to that.

  • Thought @skinny had really closed the gap but Bjorn hasn't updated in nearly 45mins. Maybe a dodgy signal?

  • I think so, Trackleaders now has him as heading to CP4.

  • No idea why Trackleaders thinks that Bjorn has been to CP3.

  • The ban on bikes in prague has been repealed for now i read.

  • ^^ I think "distance to CPx" on Trackleaders may be set up in basic longitude.

Bjorn's route has taken him eastward past a point on a line drawn directly north/south through CP3, while Skinny's hasn't.

Also, any rider heading for the CP2 parcours who has passed a point on a line drawn north/south thru CP2 is showing a distance to CP3.

  • TL is just showing their projection for Bjorn's CP3, no?

  • What's the deal with the parcours at CP3? I'm wondering if Bjorn is heading to the east of the hilly bit, planning on riding the parcours from the northern end, while Skinny goes over the hilly bit, down the parcours, then back up it?

  • Yep, sounds about right.

I guess the geofencing setup is up to whoever creates the event on trackleaders, and not the trackleaders site itself.

  • Where is 170 off to?
