I used to take them off for the bin daily, older elixirs were the worst. But the "new improved" guide rs etc were still shockingly bad.

Yeah, I get that the Avid stuff just didn't really work, or at least, there were so many that didn't work they developed a reputation for being unlikely to work.

Yeahbut, I have a pair that have been A+. Shockingly bad? What are you actually experiencing with them? Did you ride them? As far as I know, there's no recall on them. Google around and you get sticky pistons, but google for Shimano problems and you get a whole slew of problems, too.
Par for the course with the high volume sellers.

RE SRAM brakes being shite, anyone actually had any experience of this?
Mine were fine. Only changed them because I wanted some jewellery and to standardise on Mineral oil across all bikes.
