Maybe it's a health/medication issue.
The pause at the top of his loop was near a pharmacy. -

According to someone on Facebook, he had a mechanical issue overnight which involved walking 10k, then when he got going did not realise his GPS was directing him back to the start........

Craig Bachelor seems to be https://www.instagram.com/airquotescrazy/ judging by the #tcrno6cap197 hashtag.
Only a few videos. He says he made bad route choices and already climbed 3500m. I like seeing him at the front, hope he pulls through and gives the leaders some competition.

Interestingly Bjorn L followed the main route down the valley.
-
• #1466
He may only be delaying a similar climb, I doubt James and 197 took on a 25% climb without checking alternatives. IIRC any road off that valley road ha similar levels of climb, but it was a few years ago and I wasn't on a bike.

I don't know. Looks like Bjorns route might have been faster

Mechanical, backtracking to bike shop 10km away
-
• #1469
Just did a quick comparison on RWGPS now they’re back on same road - both routes had similar gradients, James 11 miles/2300ft Bjorn 13 miles/1900ft

What causes some SPOT trackers to update so slowly? Is it that some riders have just buried theirs under luggage and it's blocking signal?
-
• #1474
i think even tree cover can do it.

Configurable, I think. Some have it on 5 mins some 60 mins. If it's erratic then yeah sounds like interference.
sweet, thanks for sharing,
