Welcome to MTB

@PhilDAS Nukeproof Scout 290 would make a nice 29er hardtail for sensible money?

If you're in the market for a steel 29er, I'd highly recommen the Niner Ros9. It's the most fun I've ever had on a bike. I run mine with a 130mm Pike and it'll take a 2.4 in the rear. So. Much. Fun.

You and I have differing opinions on sensible money. I'm not spending the best part of 2 thousand pounds on a bike that will get used a dozen days a year.

Rigid 29er then

I've just ordered that Prone 29er frame. Went with large and Red coz i'm a tart. Build will be slow and cheap where possible. Forks probably not until next month. Maybe I'll finish it before it snows.

Cheap mtb is hard. That kind if bike needs a dropper so factor that in. Cheap Deore adn SLX brakes on CRC worth picking up at the moment (need hoses switching)

There are a fair few cheaper frames here

All silly racey XC frames though?

@PhilDAS to complement what @furious_tiles Is selling I've a pair of hope pro4 29er tech xc hoops with all the factory spares (spokes, nipples, axle adapters) I'm not using and would sell cheap enough.

I've got a dropper and some Gobi saddles I'm not using

Cheers @Colm89 @furious_tiles
Hit me up with prices when you know -

Definitely wouldn't recommend to someone who lives in a flat ;)
I love it, mighty capable of pretty technical trails and stable on pretty lairy stuff with drops n the like also comfy for eating miles. It’s certainly no XC machine though, which is a good thing in my book.
Mines a Mk1 and the downsides being tyre clearance on the rear and rear being QR. Sure these are both sorted on the Next Gen.

Will do.
The post is internally routed cable. Will the frame you’ve ordered take it?
-
• #11869
Apparently it has internal dropper routing yes

Pretty stoked on this now actually.
If anyone is selling any cheap bits in the next few weeks, gimme a shout. 1x cranks, flat pedals, stubby stem, bars, tyres, mech & shifter, cassette -
• #11871
Will take £150 for them, and I have a finishing kit from my old cube ltd sl you can have for free (bars, stem, seatpost, saddle).
-
• #11872
Super barg ^ That's about the cost of the rear hub alone.

I'll probably have going
- Cannondale risers, uncut (780?)
- SRAM Guide R brakes
- XTR 11 speed rear mech
- XT 11-42 cassette
- Easton havoc 45mm stem
- 31.6 dropper post
- Fizik Gobi (white or black)
- And blue Hope cranks, BB and tooling with spider ring thing
- Cannondale risers, uncut (780?)
Hence the stumpy stem
