Frayed knot, but then my 26" MTB had 2.3" DH tyres and weighed about 15kg last time I TTed on it. I'm out of the house so I can't check the exact numbers, but even with my small engine that bike was costing less than a minute per mile vs. a tricked out T3. Short of deliberately handicapping him with seized bearings or a saddle bag full of bricks, a pro/elite who can ride at 30mph on the optimum bike can probably do 25mph on any properly maintained and adjusted bike.
