• hmmm so started to look at my build of the boardman pro and was removing the ultegra triple as i always hated the fact it never worked properly --- then i had the thought of making it a super-compact double and started some research online

what came up was that i should have spacer on my triple (2 actually, one on the NDS and one on the DS) i have only the NDS side - which is probably the cause of the problems with the shifting....

if i wanted to go down the super compact route - would i need to change the middle chainring to one that is designed to be the last ring on the crank? an outer? or would the front mech be enough to stop it from dropping?

  • Just buy a new chainring, the only concern is the bolt sticking out a little on the NDS of the chainring due to not having a recessed slot, but other than that, you're sorted.

Double check if your inner ring look good, add 16t and you have the big ring of a super compact.
