While the Jekyll is undoubtably a cool bike, I'm not sure I'd want to have a proprietary pull-shock without a shop warranty to back it up...
Is it proprietary fit? Could it be replaced with something else if it ever failed?
Cheers for those links

Never buy a second hand MTB that has suspension.
Especially true for esoteric pull shock arrangements.

No, although Fox will service them.
I wouldn't bother - it looked cool but by all accounts the pull shock Jekylls and Triggers weren't that awesome.
I'd look for a habit, they are fun, versatile bikes.

Cheers, I’ll take a look. Jekyll just looks so sick with the slack front and long travel fork
-

how about this cotic?
I would say if you're on a budget, best to get a hardtail with decent components
-

Factoring in shock and fork that’s going to be over a grand for a frameset. I’m looking at half that.
No worries guys, I’ll keep looking but thanks all.

People may shoot me down, but if you don't ride much i'd get a 27.5 plus hardtail.
The bigger tyres give you so much traction you can get away with murder, so ideal for the occasional skill poor rider (that's me and I've been riding off road since I was 12). I haven't missed the rear shock one bit and you can easily get into propper bikepacking (not that gravel bike pretend bikepacking).
They come up cheap both new and barely ridden. If you love it, go full bounce later if you think you still need it.

Yeah fair. Like I said, I wouldn’t mind a hard tail at all, and I’d only get full suss if one was for sale I could afford obviously. I’m not gonna rush, just wait for something cool to come up in my size. Maybe over winter when people aren’t riding off road as much there might be a few more for sale

Maybe, but this summer is so dry the trails have never been better now!
Global warming may mean this is the new normal tho.

Seems reasonably priced (I know nothing about full sus bikes and their pricing). -

Went and put 25 miles in on the Yeti.
I don't need a FS and it makes me sad.
New hardtail?!
Ideal bike; black frame, black forks. Everything Hope - but in different colours.

26 inch!?
-
• #11770
Well. Yeah. I didn’t see that in the title. Looked it up and that year, all the models I saw were 27.5 so who knows

I don’t want anything to do with eccentric bottom brackets!
-
• #11772
Seems a little conservative...
I'm resigned to the fact that what I want is effectively an XC race bike.

@PhilDAS
This would certainly be worth considering imo
https://www.yt-industries.com/uk/detail/index/sArticle/1929/sCategory/509Or the Capra 29er if you wanted a little more enduro over trail

About 4 times the budget unfortunately. I can’t afford new at all. I’m looking for a second hand bargain really

Mid-travel 29er seems to be where it's at for versatility, fun, and not making everything you ride this side of a downhill track a bit dull. That said, I think you're going to struggle to come under budget for a full suspension frameset. The best deals are to be had complete.
Might be worth taking a punt on this: https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/2398153/
