So I'm finally getting round to turning my P3 into a pursuit bike tomorrow. Got all the bits, all seems straight forward. One thing though: do I need to be wary of how tight I crank up the nuts on the rear wheel? I'm a little gunshy considering they're just carbon fibre!

My T3 is still fine

Xav reckons they'll be fine at normal recommended torque. I always use chain tugs because it just makes life easier in general, and my wheel stays in place with just 8Nm on M6 bolts. If you want to stay within the load that a fucking tight Shimano QR skewer will exert on the dropouts, the maximum torque for M10×1 track nuts is about 12Nm, which is about half what most people would consider tight on that size of fastener and about a third of what a decent quality track nut and axle can safely withstand.

Interesting... Only chaing tugs I've got to hand are BMX ones, which place the screws directly onto the dropout, which isn't ideal.
It's kind of important as I'll be doing a proper standing start on one. Think I'll just have a play seeing what the minimum torque is where the wheel doesn't slip.

I hoovered up the Fireeye ASP ones when CRC had them, the nearest equivalent which is actually available seems to be Box Components from Triton for cheap in Gold only at the moment, or a bit more from other shops if you don't want to look like a tart's boudoir

Here’s how it’s looking right now (chain slack because i’ve cut the chain for 1t more on the front) Riveted on front mech hanger’s a bit weird. Just assumed it was removable.

Just assumed it was removable.
It is removable, you just need a drill. And possibly a chisel. I know a few people have removed them, sometimes they just fall off after you've drilled out the rivets, sometime they take a bit of prying off due to some glue backing up the rivets.

It’s not a permanent conversion otherwise I would! All getting put back together for the National 25 in a couple of weeks.

Finally got someone with a good camera to take photos of one of my favourite bikes. Had many good days/nights riding this. Even got brave once and rode a TT on it a couple years ago. -

So, what's are the basic rules of building budget fixed TT?
I'm planning to sell my caadx as it's hasn't seen any use since half year, add some money and build fixed TT as I was always interested to try TT.
I would guess that used Dolan PC frame is the easiest start but I'm not big fan of it. I remember the bike not fittinge me very well, seat position wasn't close enough to BB. -

they look a little agricultural -

No elbow pads?
-
• #792
No - they are a half arsed repair weld - i was not that happy with them either - but i guess it is difficult to repair the middle of a thin Ti tube !

• #793
i tend not to use them (with my old back ! )

What is that frame please Lukas?

Why hasn't this appeared anywhere on this thread?
Haidelibicycle say they can supply with a fork drilled for brake.
BXT say they can't.

Not necessarily, but this is just a visual wind tunnel
Pete's fixie conversion tandem at the H10/17R today, failed to beat the time @umop3pisdn and I did on there a few years ago 🙂
