  • They are Nitto Noodles; is there another way to angle them? They were literally the only road drops I was familiar with having had them on my Geurciotti, the only other road bike I have owned. I would have considered other bars if I had a scoobies of what would have been good options. Initially I felt the whole set up was a bit reachy but it feels perfect now.

  • Generally when using classic drops, rather than having a flat transition between level and bar, you have a slight drop before the lever - this post just above yours provides a good example of how they're usually set up:

As @Tijs was saying, you're probably better off with a compact bar, where the transition is flat, but the drops will come around normally rather than being at the funny angles yours are, not to mention they'll be a bit closer on. Best option for a 26mm compact bar is a Deda Piega, modern shape, works great with Campy levers and only costs about £20.

  • This is all news to me, I had the Guerc set up exactly the same

Been riding with this set up since about 2011. When it needs a service and a re-wrap I may consider swapping the bars out but it has worked this way so far.

  • Looks fine to me. The rough agreement is drops pointing at rear brake which yours seem to

  • You sure that's exactly the same setup? The Guerc looks just right.

  • Been trying to find a more side-on pic, although this one makes it looks like the bars are angled down slightly. They are dead flat with the stem though.

  • Wow very nice build but for me it's more the saddle who looks angled hup like on vintage MTBs, no ?
Bars looks OK but the hoods too low IMO.

  • The picture above? That is an old set up, the previous page's picture is current. I always tilt my saddles slightly up, but only slightly.

Here's a close look at the bars. Looking for this picture in the build thread I found a picture of my dog who died in February and I just burst into tears. Fuck I miss that hound with my entire being :(

  • Keep it up buddy!

Would you have a nice picture of Guerciotti with these beautiful wheels?
    You're doing a great job !
    Cheers
    g

  • Which beautiful wheels? The ones in the back-ground of that last picture?

  • The back-ground Campag Omega X SR ?

  • Ha I only have the front wheel alas, bought NOS offa ebay. Its the Omega Strada Hardox Aero, possibly the nicest looking rims ever made, with a high flange Campag Record hub. I have searched high and low for a matching rear, and would also keep a regular eye out for a pair of NOS unlaced. If you see any let me know.

  • Pre-fit shot, saddle has come up a bit more since. Pretty much done.

  • that is a wonderful build dude. top work indeed

  • nice AX crankset : )
    bartape ID ?

  • Merci @gaston & @jonny :)
    Bartape is Fizik Superlight Glossy.

  • never easy mate, I talk to mine most days even though he's no longer with us.

  • So the rear Mech is working flawlessly now. Turns out the hanger was bent. Having these two next to eachother one can clearly see how much the weight of a bike can affect performance.

  • Lovely pictures, bikes are looking great.

Slightly offtopic and an extremely long shot, but is this in Küsnacht, Switzerland by any chance?

  • Thanks a lot.
Yes that is indeed in Küsnacht hahah.
I assume you are from that region?

  • Yep, live in Erlenbach and went to school in Küsnacht :)

  • Love this. However, it’s a painful reminder I can’t squeeze my carbon wheels on my steel bike.

  • Cool, good to see some fellow Swiss people on here.

  • Painful in the sense of you find it ugly or your frame dimensions won't take them?

  • Considering we're not really the target demographic of this forum ;)
I'll shout if I ever see you around on that bike
