No worries, it’s fair to say it’s a bit of a slog after the dynamo itself..

I've found it a quite pleasant roll into town. And there's a few points to stop and recover.

Last year was the first time it didn't clash with another major target and it was such a great ride. I'll be riding there and back again. Much more pleasant than having to deal with transport logistics.

Yeh I'll be doing this, this year. fixed - there and back woo

• #82
How hard would this be on a Brompton?
-
• #83
There aren’t any real hills to speak of and people do it on much less appropriate bikes. It’d still take a while but it’ll be a lot of fun and you’ll get lots of love from other riders.

I think BWC finishes too late for it to be doable.... we'll see. Would be fun.

Saw plenty of Brommies on my two editions. You'll be fine.

Having to let my coach/bike transport ticket go if anyone wants to do it? It's sold out now I see.

Thank you for @ing me... and yup, I'll take it. Have DM'd.

This has fuller details:
Sunday 29 July - NO bikes will be allowed on trains between Lowestoft, Darsham and Ipswich, and Lowestoft and Norwich. This includes bike frames, bike parts and folding bikes. A special timetable will be in operation for Intercity services leaving Ipswich between 0900 and 1500, on which 50 bikes will be permitted to travel on trains to London. A special reservation will be required and be can obtained at http://www.greateranglia.co.uk/dunwich-dynamo-reservation. Booking closes at midday on Sunday 22nd July. All other routes will only allow the normal number of 4 bikes per train.
The form closes at midnight tomorrow (Sunday) for booking the special trains so if you're teetering on the edge of deciding like I am, look sharp.
I just looked at riding back to Cambridge as an alternative - close on 200 miles all in, but bikes on trains aren't going to be a faff, alternatively Kings Lynn is a few miles shorter

Advance tickets from Ipswich to London are less than half the price of turn-up-on-the-day standard tickets. Which is nice if you remember.
Thanks to a friend who's pulled out I'm stuck on the 1pm train. Trying to decide if I'll ride back or use the morning to nap in a field / explore the area. 40mm tyres on the bike so I might look and see if there are any nice off-road tracks between Dunwich and Ipswich.

IS THAT AN INNER TUBE I CAN SEE, SIR?

Thinking of wearing my cycling shorts with a long sleeve, slightly thicker jersey up top. I'm very slim so not much body insulation, will I be too warm?
-
• #95
Have you seen the weather lately?
You could do this ride in a jersey and still be too warm.
-
• #96
I am not organising transport or riding this year but can tell already it will be one to remember.
Lucky.

Grrr, just found out I'm missing this for some work that has come up

Sunsets at 20:56, overnight lows of 16 degrees with some cloud cover and sub-10kmh winds from the SW.
It's going to be absolutely fucking dreamy.

I tend to run cold and have done previous dynamos when it's been very hot in the day and still warm at night. Arm warmers and a wind proof got me though the 2 - 3.30am cold/tired slot quite well.

Cheers. I think I'll have a little late night spin some time this week around 1 in my long sleeved and see if I get too hot.
Thanks, but I've not done enough riding recently to volunteer the extra 30 miles on the end.
