• Is this the right place to ask? I want to get an amp and speakers for home. I’m tired of not hearing music properly and want a good full Range. I’m not an audiophile but want to hear all of a song, in reasonable quality.

Don’t know my arse from elbow. What way should I be looking for a nice entry ish setup, do I need a sub or are floor standers enough?

Circa 3-500. Don’t mind second hand.

    These? https://www.richersounds.com/hi-fi/floorstanding-speakers/q-acoustics-q3050-matte-graphite.html

    And an amp.

You don't need a sub unless you're watching Die Hard, just get a decent pair of bookshelf speakers. Budget floorstanders often sound muddy in the mid and top ends. Given that you're mostly listening to streaming audio via bluetooth I would go for:
    Monitor audio Bronze 2
Decent (ie. heavy) stands (don't skimp)
Any decent two channel hifi amp (£100+) paired with a decent bluetooth receiver (£50+) or
    A Tangent Ampster (£150)

  • Thanks for the tips. I think I’ll go second hand on eBay as I should be able to get more for the money.

Thanks for the link of Bluetooth recover. I did wonder if there is a way to use my raspberry pi with Spotify and then connect that digitally to the amp, using my phone to control it this might give better quality. I’ll research it.
