• Hello everyone! I've decided to go for a Pre Cursa as my first ever build. I'm going to have a million questions along the way, but I'll start off with the most basic stuff.

I stand 180cm (~5'11") tall with an 81cm (~31") inseam. Any PC-owners in here with similar measurements? What size should I go for? I was thinking 54, but I'm not sure.

Next are the wheels. The Halo Aero Track rear + Aero Rage front seem like decent options after reading the reviews, but I honestly don't know what to look for. Any other suggestions in the same price range? I'd be willing to spend up to £200 (+ shipping within the EU) for the set.

Also looking for a 19t sprocket + locking. Any suggestions here? I will (hopefully) get a 18/17t in the future, but I want to ease my knees into riding fixed.

Might be worth mentioning that I'll be getting the SRAM Omnium crankset, just in case it makes a difference for the choice of wheels/sprocket?

Sorry to bother you guys with so many questions at once, and my apologies if this should have been posted somewhere else. It's at least partly related to the thread.

Very similar measurements to me. I've got a 54.

  • Same dims as me. Go 54. Top tube will feel too short on a 52. I once owned a 56 and top tube was fine, but it needed more visible seatpost to look good.

You can make a small bike longer by adding stem length and seatpost setback, but you can't make a big frame smaller without making it look shit.

  • I've been riding an aerotrack rear wheel daily for about 5 years. Still going strong, only some minor trying. Bearings are still good. Not the lightest, but not heavy. Few other bits have lasted so well for me. I'm on the heavier side, 6foot 3 and 83kg.

  • Am 7cm shorter than you and 52 is a nice fit. At £200 budget I'd maybe think of some hand-built wheels by Arup or another forum wheel-builder after buying separate hubs and rims. It would allow you more choice and to mix/match. Omniums had issues with fitting older Pre Cursa's, the new frame has apparently resolved that, but be careful if you are buying an older frame.

  • Not sure what other's experience is but dang. You have a similar setup.

Get a 56 cm. As recommended on the Dolan site. This is my 2nd Dolan pre Cursa and a 54 or a 52 is waaaaaaayyyyyy too small for you.

We have similar measurements and Toe Overlap is real even on a 56cm but on the smaller frames my gawd you must be kidding suggesting a 54.

I'm the same measurements size wise as you. 56cm is what Dolan suggest and its perfect.

I'm using 49t Crank and 20t cog to ease my knees into it and spin spin spin.
