Well it was for my Litespeed Sabre - but i just discovered the frame has cracked (under my awesome power i guess !) so it is new frame time as well. Shifting - i could get an original 2 speed Sturmey quadrant shifter - but i was going to interface it with a modern shifter - but which type will now depend on the new frame. The hub in effect defaults to 1:1 fixed drive with no tension on the cable and when the cable is pulled enough, the shaft engages the planetary system for a 25% reduction - so as long as enough cable is pulled , i think i can get away with a variety of shifters.
Old and new - not just the Hub ! - current project - 2 speed fixed wheel for an easier time up the hills - bought a Sturmey Archer TF 2 speed fixed hub 1934 - but 40 hole rims are not common these days unless you want a heavy thing for Tandems - light-bicycle.com do up to 36 hole carbon aero rims inc tubeless and were fantastic - just asked if they can do a 40 hole rim = no problem , delivered in a week and no extra cost!! So going to build 1934 SH TF hub into 2008 45mm deep carbon aero tubeless rim with Sapim CX-Ray spokes Stainless.
