15l from memory assuming the same size (looks visually similar) to the one we use.

Is it possible to get a decent grind from a Krups bladed grinder?
So far I’m gettin dust, or uneven chippings and I’m not sure how to get nice coffee from either of those.
I can see it getting relegated to grinding ‘spices’.

I used one like that before somebody gave me a proper grinder.
Got the impression slowly shaking / moving the thing up and down helped with a homogeneous "grind".
It was ok for using it in a moka-pot. -

I don't like bladed grinders very much. Krups do a cheap burr grinder I recently bought. I was initially unhappy with the fine grind setting as I wasn't getting a fine enough grind to produce the marbled crema on the espresso, so I basically forced the fineness knob towards fine trying to will it better - I felt a snap and the knob gave way. Turned it 90 degrees beyond the most fine setting - perfect grind, perfect extraction.

Good idea. I guess the ‘dust’ is likely more suitable for a gaggia or mokapot than the aeropress I’ve tried so far.

Nice hack!

after a few years of using old milk/juice containers then filtering through a v60.
That's just what I'm doing right now. So inconvenient, I know!

I had a cheap delonghi burr grinder before I got my Rocky and it was the same out of the box. There's a hack you can do to it on youtube that takes 2 minutes and gets you a much finer grind. Was perfect for making espresso with a pressurised portafilter.
But yeah stay away from blades, they don't grind they chop.

Disagree with that, using a bladed unit for the grind, my moka tasted like shit and more often than not got choked until I got the Zass, and now with the Helor it's even better, more consistent.

Sounds like you were overdoing bit a bit with the thing..

Finally got my mitts on one of those nice Hario brewers
Like, one of these?
They do look nice, but fuck, £80.00 is muy ridicoulo, seriously..few years of using old milk/juice containers
Like, 1L tetra-paks?
Ewww!
I guess you probably have plastic bottles in the uk and you are talking about those, haha.Seriously though I just used 1L glass carafes, like the ones for ice tea, that fit in the door of your fridge. Didn't even bother to filter afterwards.
Then I got two large french press thingies and used that for one summer, 'twas very convenient.I did stop doing cold brew eventually when I realized I was drinking 1,5 liters of very strong coffee every day, which is, you know, too much.

Everything in moderation, including moderation...

for cold brew I use glass bottles kept in the fridge and then triple filter:
- decant, allowing the sediment to remain in the first bottle
- Hario v60 filter
- final filter through an Aeropress
Then back in the fridge to re-chill for a couple of hours. The results are amazing, clean and crisp. Works particularly well with any citrus notes but chocolate flavours are great using this method.

Unfortunately you'll never get good results from a bladed grinder. Get rid of it and buy a decent £50 hand grinder. I swear my Porlex gives a better grind than even my Mazzer mini.

It says it does 100 cups but doesn't seem to say what that means in terms of litres, but identical pictures bring up a 16L model by the same make.

On a related note. Recommendations for a grinder for aeropress. Going (car) camping and want decent coffee. Needs to be fairly compact as we will have a car full of kids stuff and bikes :)

Porlex Mini or Rhinowares

Seems this way. I have a Hario and it’s great - I couldn’t face coffee from the krups this morning so it’s back in use.

You disagree that fine grind may be better for moka than aeropress? ...... okay.

Don’t forget your filters! And the porlex mini fits inside an aeropress :)

Got one free with a Pact subscription which was nice.

I guess you probably have plastic bottles in the uk and you are talking about those, haha.Yup, standard plastic bottle. Got a nice 1L Kilner bottle but it was annoying only being left with 800ml or so after filtering. So using a standard 2L milk/juice bottle did the job.

^ This.
Was considering switching to the Rhino as my Porlex is around 7-8 years old at this point. Rhino doesn't fit in the aeropress so some new innards for the Porlex will be the way to go.
^ this and given volume maybe ask the roaster to grind it for you, especially if you'd be using Porlex Mini otherwise
