  • Do you find me completely insane?

Yeah, but like proper cool, making some of the best bike posts on the forum

  • with that bar width i'd be really testicle-conscious while attempting it..

  • To save the city from diesel and make young people want to buy a bike I make hip hop fixies.
To save the country sides from carbon dioxide and make people want to buy bikes I make Campag SR builds like.

    I like this approach.

  • Picked up new projects in Calais this AM!

1993 Gitane Mach 320 in Columbus Gara. CTC 53cm ST 55cm TT. Sachs indexed 2x6 speed. 26.2mm seatpost. Tectro brakes.
Really lovely condition, very little use - check out the anodising on the Mavic rims.

As for the other one, I was told it was a "Vanheste" in Reynolds 531, built in Belgium. Apparently a shop brand, made by another builder. Seems very well made!
CTC 55cm square. Shimano 600 Arabesque groupset. 26.6mm seatpost. Mavic hubs on Mavic rims.
Previous owner repainted it - forks seemed chromed underneath. Also mudguard eyes.

Yellow saddle and yellow bar tape??

  • dibs when u sell :)

  • I'll have a Paris brest and 2 crossiants

  • Paris Brest were already sold out :-(
Croissant pur beurre were so buttery, I have a grease stain on my jeans...

  • got some 48/32 chainrings along with a new ultegra rx800 mech on order. Will pair it with 11/30 cassette to do a bit of cross this season. Should be good.

Will replace a 50/34 and 11/36 so the jumps should be smaller without losing any real range of gears, and the mech should help with mixed terrain during cross.

  • About 8 to 9 years ago I found a pro-level Mercier TT bike from the 70s, NOS, on Le Bon Coin. It was pink, perfect, and cheap too. Unfortunately it was in Bordeaux (my family is in PACA) and they didn't want to ship... I still wonder who bought it / CSB.
Anyhow, if you ever want to sell yours and it's around the 56 cm TT mark...

  • Updated 1" carbon fork and deep carbon rims for the wife's hack bike.

Her hack looks better than mine. That and my Sunday best bike will never be as good as her Demon. I lose the game of fixie bieks in my own house. :/

  • 11-42 Sunrace for my Swift that now works thanks to Wolftooth Goatlink with a 32t oval Superstar N/W. Heelshift 22t for bailouts gets me down to 15".

  • Heelshift 22t

    Nice

Silver spokes would finish this off

  • I took my 'current projects' out of the shed today, and photographed them in order to post here hoping that this might spur me on to get them finished, so here we go:

    Bob Jackson, curved seat tube:

My most recent purchase, bought off e-Bay last week.

I had thought a quick tart up - new bar tape, tyres, hoods and I'd be good to go, but now I'm getting sucked in, thinking about building some new wheels, swapping out the crankset and rear derailleur. This could go on for ages.

    'Stockton Lightweights' Number 5:

I built this frame - under the supervision of Geoff Roberts - in January, and painted it on the Cole Coatings course.

I would have expected to be riding this around France or Italy by now, particularly since I've had all the parts for the build for ages. Somehow work / family / other projects just got in the way.

Spent a bit of time with it this afternoon, may well have it finished (provisionally) some time tomorrow.

    Ron Cooper:

I've had this frame for ages, and threw some parts on it the other week, just to see how it looked. I am now pretty taken by it, so want to give it the build it deserves. Problem is I'm a bit time poor, and have a few other projects on the go. However, I do have all the parts I require, all I need is a bit of motivation.

    Dave Yates:

Another project that's been going on for ages. Took the old groupset off maybe two years ago, but couldn't get the fixed cup off and eventually got bored. Took it to the LBS about a month ago, and they managed to remove said cup. Have a fairly nice DA group ready to go, just need a kick up the arse.

    Roberts:

Purchased this recently off here. It's in pretty good nick, doesn't really need much - if anything - doing to it. Am toying with the idea of sticking flat bars on it, maybe a front rack. Not sure why, just seems right.

    Jack Taylor Super Tourist:

Bought this as a full bike some time ago. It, like me, was made in 1962. Have earmarked it as my L'eroica bike for this year, and set disassembled it ready for a re-build. Then found some nasty paint loss and a bit of corrosion inside the chain stays, and started thinking about a re-spray. Then got carried away thinking about who to give the work to, how to have it painted, should I have some chrome etc. Subsequently, this project has stalled, and needs to get back on track for October.

    Ephgrave:

    [

    Another recent - impulsive purchase.

Had one of these some years ago, but had to sell it to pay some bills. When this one came up I decided to go for it. The quality of the workmanship on these things is outstanding, and this one has the added bonus of an Argos paint job.

Whilst it's a wee bit too small for me, I'd like to build it up with some quality period parts and take it for the odd coffee ride.

Anyway, that's what I've got on the go at the moment - need to get cracking.

  • The Yates is amazing. Do it proud.

  • You'r Stockton Lightweights' Number 5: is awesome++ love the Max or Tange forks and slooping style !!! wow man !!!!
