Thomas will never get a better chance of winning the tour. He has to go for it.
He is leading after the Alps.
The guys in second and third both have the giro in their legs
Two big contenders - Porte and Nibali - have crashed out.
Two other people cited as contenders before the race began- Quintana and Landa - look short on form.
There is a long-ish TT to come which should relatively suit him.
Only one more mountain top finish left.
