  • I have a pair of those you can have for free @idiot

  • Not really used them. Came on a bike and seemed fine for the ride home.

  • woot, free stuff!

looking a gift horse in the mouth time: what size are they? if they're the 26 x 2.0 ones then I'll take them off your hands.

  • Pretty sure they are, can check when I get home. Got 26" disc rims too.

  • does anyone have challenge paris-roubaix (27c) on an h+son archetype rim? how wide do they end up being?

I believe its a 17.5mm internal rim width, just trying to work out if it will a) fit on rim and b) clear my ritchey road logic frame

    Complicated maths for me.

  • Need a bit of sage wisdom...

Doing a week of road touring next week, finishing with the dynamo, route is all tarmac as far as I know.

I’ve got a choice of a few different tyres, 25mm GP4ks, 28mm lifeline road armor’s or 30mm Schwalbe g-one Speed’s I got cheap. Tubeless isn’t an option because I’ve never ridden it before and I’m not using this week as a guinea pig.

Ideally I’d like to go bigger and run lower pressures, basically what I’m asking is are g one speeds good on tarmac? Or are they more of a tyre for 50/50 road/gravel rides. I’m sure they’re better tubeless but I’m sure they’ll be fine with tubes in. Easy option is the lifeline 28s but I’m sure the g ones are a lot nicer, and they’re a bit bigger.

  • The g one speed are more tarmac oriented for sure. Even the allround one with more knob (tubeless) feels not so different the 25c gp4k in my opinion.

  • g one speeds are great on tarmac

  • May I briefly hijack your question to confirm in my brain whether you can run those g-one speeds (I got the same ones thanks to your tip off) non-tubeless on a clincher?

Edit: and not have them explode and kill you whilst doing it?

  • AFAIK, any ‘clincher’ whether tubeless or not can be run with a tube... tubeless trees are just a bit more of a ball ache to get on/off.

Cheers for the replies guys, probably go with g ones, will they wear faster on tarmac or are they pretty much built to cope with it like any other road tyre? That was one of my main concerns, I had a vague reccolection some people had said theirs had worn quite quickly, but I may be confusing it with another tyre in the same range.

  • I ran a tube in mine no problem

  • This is excellent news. Thanks both, and many thanks @ThePeginator for the tip off. Could never have afforded them otherwise.

  • Me either, it was dumb luck!

  • G-One Speeds are brilliant in tarmac, but for touring I'd rather use lifelines, the Speeds aren't exactly a touring tire. I'd say the ideal use for them are fast riding in challenging conditions, tubeless of course

  • I have Voyager Hypers in 38c which are too wide on the frame, anyone has 35c and want to swap?

  • That is a fair point... might do that, I do trust them where as the g-ones are - at least to me - an unknown quantity. Cheers!

  • I'm waiting on an order of 35c to arrive (ordered 16th) could be interested in swapping depending on how they sit

  • cool! Mine are used, I can compensate with ££? London?

  • Pulled the trigger on 27c challenge tyres (on archetype rim) ...

What is a safe amount of clearance? I’ve got about 2mm on either side .

    Am I going to die?

  • thats plenty

  • I am thinking about swapping Vittoria Adventure Trail TNT 38c I use now on my Pickenflick for something faster. Was thinking about some proper road tyres like Pro4 Endurance 28c, but I still only have one wheelset, so for more versatility, will G-One Speed 30c make it? I am a bit "worried" that they might be to narrow. What pressures can you run it tubeless for offroad? How durable are they regarding both puncture resistance and longevity?
Ideally I would go for 35 or 38c version of G-One Speed but they are about 20 GBP more expensive per pair :/

  • Anyone finding GravelKings skittish under hard braking? I unexpectedly came upon a car stopped in the middle of the road on a descent recently and both wheels locked up and drifted through a turn. 26c on Open Pro w/ c.90psi?

  • how new are they? 90psi seems quite high to me
