  • ^Jornet is so good it's almost unbeleivable. Really impressive running. I read somewhere that he targets something like somewhere between 90 and 120 thousand feet of elevation a week. I struggle to hit 3!

@HatBeard - heal up soon. Say well done to your running mates!

How are people coping with running in this heat?
Specifically on long runs I'm really struggling to get enough fluids in. A couple of weeks ago 2l water and a glass of coke wasn't enough, but that was almost 4 hours out and about in the afternoon. Saturday I drank about 1.5l water over 19 miles. Problem is I don't feel I can drink much more. Is it just a case of I'm using more (sweating etc) than I can take in or are there some pro tips I'm missing?

I think I'm going to suffer on Round Reading at the end of the month.

I'm loving it and my tan is awesome, but furthest distance has been 11 miles - hah! I'll start some longer runs soon building up for a half with a sub90 target in mind.

Do you eat much on these sort of distances? Apples/grapes are full of water and sugar if you want another way to hydrate/fuel.

I wear 3/4 length cycle trousers on my bike which leaves a ring around my ankles,
calf sleeves and shorts on long distance walks/hikes/ultras which leave a ring around my knees
then when I wear normal shorts I look like a barber pole.
add no socks to the mix if i'm wearing flipflops and my pasty white feet look like someones cut the bloodflow to them.

    I'm a freak.
