Field placement for this weeks a3crg is insane, with 90 riders going off at 30 second intervals and a 20:40 cut off, its going to be a massive draft fest, but also could make the roundabouts a disaster.
Just to check the expectation is that the overtaken rider should ease off and allow a gap to form if overtaken right? I’ve only ever been overtaken by people who were going so much faster than me in a 10 this happened naturally, but I have Simon bowler starting 30 seconds behind me and I’d guess he’s going to be between 20 and 60 seconds faster than me so the speed differential might be quite low...

I wasn't as fast as I would have liked but it was 14 mins faster than last year.
Nice improvement. I was 2w down on last year which was slightly disappointing. Much of @Cycliste's improvement I suspect was due to not crashing or puncturing this year.

Isn't he 30 secs in front of you?
But yes, the onus is on the rider overtaken.
-
• #18331
yes, realised as soon as I posted, but the guy 30 seconds after me is still a 19:16 rider so similar principle applies!

I posted a fortnight ago I was entered in that. Bike is still hanging on the wall. Longest interval remains 10min@12hr power, inlaws are arriving on Friday and I'll need to get up at 4am Sunday to race.

I'm off 14 mins before Marcin and fully expect him to pass me on his way to a sub 1:30

A fortnight ago? No way I'm going to remember anything from that long ago.
I'm down on power on last year, still feel like I haven't really recovered from the 12hr/Tour Transalp combination, and the Di2 system in my TT bike keeps spontaneously discharging itself for no apparent reason. Raise you.

12hr + 7days?
21 days / 4200mi, a third of which was spent in agony having fucked up the saddle height adjustment. Knee ok but Achilles still chunky with presumably a fair bit of scar tissue from riding on.Power? No clue but I couldn't hold 12hr power for more than 10min on the turbo when I did bother trying the other day.
Di2 is rock solid so that's just poor wrenching on your part. #oof

I'm out - fold.
Di2 position is complicated by the fact I'm running a highly hacked setup at the moment - external battery reconfigured to be internal. Much soldering. Happily I have a spare internal battery and Junction A 3 port. Need some more cables though.

The only reason I entered is because I had a fast 10 off the back of TCR a couple of years ago. But a 10 is a lot fucking shorter than a 50 and the TCR was a lot fucking shorter than TABR so I really have no idea what I will do, if I can even get out of bed early enough.

Anyone interested in a set of these, but without any extensions?

They're not the same as the Vuka Alumina are they?

yes

Are they the below bar mount? Do you know what the lowest height the pads are from the top of the base bar?

So @Sainsburys_Ed 's post has re opened the idea of a position change. Suggestions and feedback welcome!
I have the same position (image attached) that I have used for everything from 10 miles to 12hrs this season. I feel that it's pretty decent, but my head sticks up to high above the line of my back. If I can hold it for 12hrs then I assume I could get more aggressive for 10's and 25's at least.
I don't think I can 'turtle' any more in this position and by looking at other riders, I think I have quite long upper arms. Already using a 110 -17 stem with the pads at their lowest. So I was thinking of testing the following -
- Angle hands up higher
- Put a longer (130mm) adjustable stem on and go longer and lower
- Both of the above.
I'm also beginning to think that my previous (damaged) Giro Selector was better fitted to my head/back position.
As I said, any suggestions/ideas welcomed.

Sit further back

I’m not a Bike fitter but your sitting position looks quite far forward, which then obviously pushes you forward at the front end, it would probably be where I’d startnifnibwas thinking about position!

I try to do that when I'm on fast sections, putting out less power, but when I'm pushing hard, that's where it feels right.

You look pretty far forward already - I would perhaps experiment with moving the saddle back, as your not a triathlete are you?
Do you have a power meter? Mywindsock or Aerolab are pretty handy for experimenting and measuring changes, assuming you can find somewhere suitable to test.
Do you have any front on pics? I struggle to get my head down if my elbows are too close, moving them wider allows me to settle more, whilst still keeping my hands close together by angling the extensions.

Will measure later, but yes they are the below the bar version.

Saddle down and back then
Oh, maybe I meant @danstuff ! I wasn't as fast as I would have liked but it was 14 mins faster than last year.
