It's in the dry, so contamination seems to be the consensus. I'll try cleaning rotors and see if that's any better, otherwise I guess wait and see if it goes away or new pads?
Sand the pads back, then set them on fire, clean the rotor with isopropyl alcohol, may require light sanding too

This makes me shed a tear of nostalgia...
I bought some STP brakes cleaner spray can, cheap as chips and yeah very convenient to clean rotors!
