OT I know, but I do think gear ratio does a lot for (or against lol) your knees. I went from 17/48 to 17/46 this season and haven't had any knee pain since :)

Thanks for the advice I am running granny gearing until my knee is ready. Still get knee pain at times off the bike. But its considerably mild now.
