Holy shit, that didn't crop up anywhere.
RIP champ. What a family of epic and dedicated riders. -

If you haven't seen the 2014 film Road that features the Dunlop family it's a good but raw watch, seems even more tragic now.

Was everywhere here mate. Ducking dreadful.
I hope John mcgunniess retires. Guy got out at a good time too. Hutch is one more bad crash from the end.
Shit.
-
• #12155
It really is. Both shit and dreadful.
I don't really know how to feel about it. Street racing doesn't look like it's going anywhere, but the speeds they've reached these days is surreal. Guy's last crash was pure luck! Even he knew it when you looked at his face in the video.
Wish them the absolute best really.

Yeah man, I love road racing and I can understand why they do, once it’s in your blood you can’t get it out, heroin. But it’s so sad to be loosing people.
At least they all walk into it knowing any making their choices. Rarely is death due to 3rd party, which makes it easier to accept.

Looks like a great day for it too!

For fun or for commuting?
Also, get a full license. Big bikes are more fun.
-
• #12161
Bit of both.
It's just an idea at the moment, my wife's already said no, which means I can.
If it all goes well I will. I'm bothered about going fast, but loud I can do.

CHANGE MY MIND
For 2 grand, you can get a bike that will outrun a 2 hundred grand car...
-
• #12163
Depends on where you are and what you intend to use it for

Who is the forums insurer of choice these days?
I've been with MCE for a couple of years and I know are not well liked.
I reaped the benefits of their free breakdown cover though, when I got a p_nct_re last summer. -
• #12165
Bennetts have been fine for me - when I changed bikes I did have to take out a new policy with a different underwriter, but they didn't charge a fee if I stuck with them for the new policy. Sounds like it would be a given but I understand it isn't. Not had to claim though.

Cheers, just got a couple of quotes.
MCE want £175
Bennetts £190
Hastings Direct £95(!)All fully comp.
-
• #12167
On the simple principle of not having to deal with MCE. I'd pick anyone else.
-
• #12168
Seconded.
Just had to deal with them AGAIN. On commercial policy, pulled over for no insurance shown on national database AGAIN. Their excuse as usual 'well you are covered, just sometimes there is an error when the database updates'.
Top marks to police (actual traffic officers) who have met me before and knew the drill.Fortunately for them I do not have the time to get a bus down to their office and throw them under it with the insurance ombudsman on the top deck.

• #12172
Shit. Just reinsured using mce. Ah well, paid for now so fingers crossed.
I was with Lexham but MCE gave me 3rd party f & t at almost 1/3 price

Meh, I'm insured again, cost me a lot less, hope never have to use it anyways
On another note, heading to Germany next week, heading via Frankfurt onto Bamberg area
Any where to go via or to avoid? I don't plan on sitting on autobhan with a pillion for 12 hours and will break the trip up with one, maybe two over night stops
Taking the girlfriend to Germany in a few weeks, not too worried about a Comms system as quite like peace and quiet but would like to both listen to the same music. I have my phone plugged in on the dash and spotify via bluetooth so is there a way to broadcast to two different sets of headphones easily?
Other option was a cheap intercom system but prefer the music only option ;-)
