Quite different geo from that very nice genesis!
But I'm guessing ^that frame isn't £150...
Edit: marin did fine on some local trails. Found a way to make this fit into my commute (spoiler alert, I don't live in London), I just have to get up 15 minutes earlier and shower when I get there.

@russmeyer That looks like £150 well spent!

Also anyone got a new BFe26?

Read some bad feedback on the new Addex Schwalbe Thunderburts - big wobbles from deformed carcasses etc.
Ordered my favourite Racing Ralph instead and..... wobble from new. All the hassle of mounting it tubeless and now its take it off, clean it up, pack it up and send back. Probably CBA but its likely the last stupidly named tyre I buy. -

Anyone else want to do the North London Dirt event next Saturday?
Normally don't do these kind of things but it's for charity and looks pretty fun, very tempted

Looks good, think I'm busy though.

10spd Shimano XT derailleur with a 42t Sunrace cassette - derailleur fouls on the 42t, and the chain then catches the derailleur in certain sprockets (only 2 sprockets actually 'usable'.
B screw is all the way in, do i need something like a wolftooth goatlink?
-
• #11634
I'm running that combo with a Goatlink. Have heard good reports of generic derailleur hanger extenders too, maybe try that (as a much cheaper) option first?

Cool. Yeah, have ordered one of those. Will see if LBS have anything too as i'd like to ride on Saturday and cba with switching cassettes back.

:(
mine just works fine with no additions - the LBS set it up...

Where are you? You could probably borrow a road link equivalent off someone on here

At the moment I'm at home, but will be in London tomorrow if anyone does have a spare?
-
• #11639
Yeah, should be easy, just jam it in, adjust cable tension if necessary and it should work straight away - 2 min job. I would lend you mine but I'm in Edinburgh.

Reckon a hard tail with knobblies would be too much for this?
-
• #11641
I think if you have some XC tyres on it should be ok.
I will be doing it on my townie bike with city jets, cause why not -
• #11642
Shimano derailleurs are very sensitive to hanger geometry. Is the link plate level or tilted up?
-
• #11643
Tilted up a few degrees I'd say.
Probably should have just bought a complete 11spd setup tbh
-
• #11644
Try it with the link rotated anti clockwise, past the b stop. Use some friction paste to clamp it on nicely if necessary. That's how I had my Production Privée set up for ages with an 11-40, worked fine

Like this?

That looks a bit extreme, unfortunately. Mine ended up like this

I train on what are likely to be many of the tracks on this (because I hate traffic) and I'd say a HT with larger (but not draggy) tyres would be perfect. Trails are fast and the jarring adds up.
-
• #11648
Yeah, unfortunately I think the hanger geo is just a bit to retro on the Swift. Will see if I can get an extender tomorrow.

Interesting mono-stay single pivotish suspension design
Claims lighter weight compared to horst and single pivot designs, better characteristics.

Having recently ridden a few miles across some washboard-like fields I think I can understand why this suspension fork business is appealing to some. I've never had one. Is this any good for the money?

Here it is. Cross post from cp.
