That’s amazing

Yeah. Never seen that before. Might be an HR glitch, but it seemed to work on the ride out and ride back.
Well done on your placing!

• #7079
Yeah well done Fred!

Well done to @Ecunard too for winning a la Merckx.
Good to see so much forum representation - is the fella riding the fixed Pompino on here?

The HR is no glitch if mine’s essentially the same. But the temperatures are very different - did you have your garmin under your armpit or something?

It felt like Howard's temp might be more precise.

Mine said it was 27 degrees. We should collate everyone’s readings and go for the average.

• #7084
You're not wrong!

HR goes up in heat. That’s a well documented phenomenon, the body needs to move more blood to the skin to cool it, whilst maintaining blood flow to the muscles.

Either way it was good fun. I felt shit until a cider hand up mid race.
I achieved the three main criteria for a good race (for me): Free booze, air time and completion.

Found it surprisingly hard to get air time from that - but did huck to flat the the slope beforehand because MTB

No. I am acquainted with @youramericanlover

We even held hands once. For a few brief moments.

Edit: if anybody knows who is the course builder can you let them know that barriers in front of steps is silly. Use them on a straight stretch before a climb.
That was actually a stipulation from the commissaire when we did the course last year, something to do with dismounting on concrete.

A rug would sort that out.
The area has a lot of possibilities and a lot of these opportunities seem missed. Loads of potential off camber eg. -

Man I really, really miss my fixed CX bike, always had way more fun fixed than on gears. But that's because intentionally handicapping myself is a good way to avoid having to own up to not being very good.
-
• #7097
Yeah we did a lot more of that last year. Did need a lot of work with the shears though!
-
• #7098
Yeah I can see that

It’s summer cross, it’s meant to be fast and furious, not a skills test.

...In your opinion. That's fine.
Less salty edit: I think they could still have a fast course and use the terrain better. I did enjoy myself and main frustration was just the steps with barriers in front. But I understand why now.
