I finished, not sure I troubled the scorers though. It was fun, if a little warm.

I've been sweating buckets recently. Combo of the hotter weather and I think maybe I'm riding faster than I realise since I'm not really looking at the PM and then I'm dehydrated, low on fuel and still struggling to repair TABR damage. Flat battery in the turbo bike was enough to stop me in my tracks. I'm sure I would've kicked arse there last night, right up until the first turn...

1/2 a metre of rain falling per hour in japan

That sounds remarkably unlikely. Reports yesterday were saying accumulated total for 3 hours was 26 cms, the highest ever recorded.

Last week, a weather station at Ouargla in Algeria’s Sahara Desert, reported a maximum temperature of 51.3C on 5 July, the highest temperature reliably recorded in Africa.

It was actually nice to see some rain in Embra for a change. Meant all but the hardiest tourists scuttled indoors and the streets smelt lovely for about 10 minutes.

Yes Algeria is formerly French.

Aye, I was enjoying it until my ride home, when I realised a) my nice clean bike wouldn't be clean any more and b) it seems to have given rise to a plagueful of the old enemy, small flying insects. I inhaled about 4 and got 1 in each eye.

Yeah, I had that too along the Water of Leith path; glad to have been wearing sunnies (meaning I ate a few flants rather than taking them in the peepers); not so chuffed to have to wash the commuter bike for the first time in over a month.

petrichor. always wanted to use that word
How'd you race go sweetie?
I got on the turbo, rode 1:40 and got off.
1 minute 40 seconds. Not 1 hour 40 minutes. 1m40s.
Strong performance deserved beer and pizza...
