And that's nice as well. Did you run that geared at one point?
-
• #7278
Cheers, yeah, a while ago.
Many versatile, such options.

Obviously it depends on the course and the conditions, but that’s a sensible ratio. I use 38x18 most of the time, unless its really muddy or a course with a significant hill.

Nice one, cheers.

So good..

Whatever came of this? Decided yet?

In continuing in contaminating this thread with pomp alternatives now that the pomp is dead. And continueating rambling to my self and not showing any pictures, my kode got a rattle can anthracite grey "hammerschlag" paintjob over the weekend and is hanging in my cellar to cure. Decideded stripped frame was stupid for all weather biek and the anthracite kinda looks like metal. Looks classy too..
Next post involving kode will include pics, promise! -

I've got a black 2016 Arise in my cellar waiting to be built up :)
LBS couldn't order a small frame for me because the distro didn't have one, but it would have meant spending more cash on disc brakes, a new wheel etc. This way I've just bought the frame and some mini V's from my LBS which cost £25.
Now I just need the time to actually build it!
To be fair I could have done it this weekend but I was too busy riding and slacking in the sun...

Anyone got a photo of a wishbone pomp with a straggler fork?
-
• #7286
I'm sure it'll look ok, but don't...
-
• #7287
Probably not what you're looking for exactly, but isn't the Straggler fork just disc version of the Cross Check fork? In which case:
-
• #7288
Why not?
-
• #7289
I didn't like it on the Straggler, so I can't imagine having it as an upgrade. It's very heavy and noticeably flexes under braking.
As an aside on my Pompino I swapped the original forks for Wound Ups and it was a real improvement (plus the fork crown and the rear wishbone work well visually together). -
• #7290
Good info cheers.
It doesn't sound like they'd be an upgrade in any way other than visually over the Day One fork then.

I want to put a derailleur on my pompino, is this possible and which mech hanger is correct?
-
• #7292
I’ve got a crosscheck fork to sell once I’m home . Was gonna buy a pomp frame to put it on but won’t get round to it . Steerer would be long enough for large pompano .

As @fizzy.bleach says I’ve done this.
I used the DMR hanger chaintug and it fit pretty much perfectly.
Again, as fizzy.bleach says the spread is the hardest part as Pompa are known to have vulnerable chsinstays. Wasn’t an issue for me but I used a 126mm hub I’m sure.
I actually have a 120mm plan hub for 5spd screw on block that I’m keeping incase I ever do it again.

Use a hub gear, or a Pompetamine (135mm OLD) frame, or any old CX frame.
-
• #7296
Hi!. Anybody use Shimano XT crank with pompino v4 ? Its compatible?
-
• #7297
Which one? If htII for 73mm BB use appropiate spacers.
Chainline will be off though. Outside is more then 50mm, inside will be 45mmish, which is quite out for a 42mm standard 120mm OLD hub chainline. -

Want to get one of these for my Pompino, but the fork crown isn't drilled... will I die if it drill it myself with a regular drill (i.e. no guide or whatever)?

I drilled the alloy crowns of carbon forks for brake mounts even and didn't do a die.
I take it the fork is steel?
Best to predrill with a smaller drill bit and then step it up.
As always, measure twice, drill once (ish). -

Ild also drill each side by its own with the smaller drill and then finish off with the bigger drill bit in one go and use the smaller predrilled holes as guides.
If you want Allen brake nut in the back, you'll need to drill that one another time to desired diameter which is bigger then the front (6 front/8 rear, so 2mm iirc)
Well that's good cos I ain't got no choice! With an 18 on the back, was thinking of 39 up front. That's something like 58GI. I really don't feel like changing the rear because I don't wanna spend too much.
