Talk of the B&M small rear light above. Brompton make a rear light bracket with 50mm spacing that fits to a brake bridge. I’ve popped one on this weekend and think it looks pretty neat. High enough to be seen above the rear wheel, low enough that you can make a saddle bag work too depending on frame size. Could potentially do with a light bit of bending to adjust to frame angle etc but seems one of the cheapest and easiest ways to get the job done.

I had Rose build me a custom Dynamo wheel a few years back.
It wasn't in the catalogue, but they ordered the parts in and built and shipped it to me for less money than I could buy the individual parts in the UK.
Unsurprisingly, if you phone them they speak perfect English and also respond to e-mails in English. -

I did not know that. I am filing that away for future reference. Thank you!

I bought the 700c version. Rim isn't great but I intend to use it before replacing. Unfortunately I've not used it yet (its summer) and just got an SP wheel. But it seemed like such a bargain it'd be daft not to have one in 'stock'. Will stick it on a beater or something one day.
Cheaper than the same hub on its own from lots of places.

Was it cheaper with postage?

My SP 6 bolt disc hub dyno has failed. I've tried testing it by putting a multimeter on the output and spinning the wheel..... nada.
Any recommendations for a replacement?

Alternatively, does anyone have a recommendation for a bottle dynamo?

Another SP or if you're feeling flush a SON.

Thought as much.

The Velogical rim dynamo looks fun but it's only 1.5W.
-
• #1763
Pretty sure 1.5w is fine, even if running rear light.Nope. 2.4w is ok, 1.5 probably not.

IIRC the nominal output is 1.5W, but they do a couple of different versions (sport, special, touring) that produce more or less power at real-world speeds; I think they've been successfully used on the TCR &c.

@mi7rennie I think you can get SP dynamos repaired in the UK now. I've got a link somewhere

Might be worth contacting Ison -

I will certainly try. It's the output that has failed on mine but got to be worth an email.

• #1768
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

• #1769
Sorry for the dredge but is there a manual on/off switc? So if i wanted to use it with a sinewave it wouldn't draw all of the power.

what is the best method to secure the rear light cable inside SKS mudguard?
