I visited them (Swytch/Panda ) in Hackney Wick and had a go on one - just around the yard so not a proper test run. Nice people. I like the idea that the bike can be changed back to non electric unlike the Brompton electric and you can still use the front carrier block as the battery pack sits on the handlebars.
They are still tweaking things though and they are about 12 weeks from a release date. -

Why ?

The bikes are not designed to take the extra weight/torque. I have seen it go wrong, it’s far from pretty. Please buy the E Brompton or don’t bother.

So what went wrong - what failed ?
-
• #4287
Fork failed, bent, just couldn’t hack it!
Also witnessed people coming off from poor cabling, as battery placement, throttle power instead of assistance causing whiskey throttle and front wheel wipe outs

This is why Brompton invest into their R&D to get a fine product at the end of the day. Aka you paid for what you get. I was going to get an E-Brompton, but the wheel design is a little chunky for my designer eye for now. Plus gen 1 is always risky IMO, when gen 2 or 3 comes out (probably when my knee goes) is when I will probably get one to smoke people off the line!

The amount of development that has gone into it, I think they’ve skipped gen 1,2, 3... currently releasing Gen X.

I hope so, still can get my head on the size of the front hub, but I guess it is what it is.

Ok - thanks for that.
Do you think https://www.swytchbike.com/folding-bike-kits/ could have these problems you have described ?
If so I will discuss this with the people at Swytch. -
