Yes, PTTJ is way way way too warm for anything about 8 degrees, for me anyway. Have you considered a wind jacket? Very nice for those chilly days when the temp is a bit middling. Have you considered an insulated gilet? Probably the most versatile piece of cycling kit ever made IMO. Insulated gilet with a wool jersey and merino arm warmers is delightful.

Sportful Fiandre Light in orange is what I want but I have this code which is difficult to sell given Rapha's ongoing 25% sale.
Can I be arsed to buy something then go through the hassle of selling it through here or eBay? Possibly but I'd rather not.
Mental to be talking about versatile autumn kit while it's 27 degrees outside at 9.30am.

I live in the Peaks where a constant threat of rain hangs over 95% of rides year round.

I wore this through most of the winter and spring after getting it in the winter sale. I'd wear it from about 4-10 degrees with a base layer. Maybe arm warmers and another jersey underneath if lower. I think it might be the best Rapha item I own.

Even better. It's great in the wet. Keeps you warm and dries very quickly but due to the fact there's no membrane, it doesn't get sweaty. Problem with Gabba/Shadow is they can only really be used in 'changeable' weather. The gilet can be used when it's Baltic outside, as well as changeable. But that's just my opinion.

I am thinking about buying the Brevet jersey. Any thoughts on this piece of? Really I wanted the flyweight version for summer rides, but they are out in my size.
My basket tells me shipping will be 5gbp although total is more than 100gbp even with discount.
Another jersey that come in under 100gbp has free shipping. Go figure... Edit: My bad. It comes in just under. My Classic flyweight comes in at 75gbp and still has free shipping it seems. -

I would buy one true to your normal rapha size and one under. Brevet was a sack on me - return the odd. Others might be able to contribute on Brevet sizing.

I bought normal size. I don't mind the extra space :)

I've got a Brevet jersey and a Club jersey and the brevet is much larger. Brevet gilet is the same case.

Hmmm
How about classic II compared to Brevet? -
• #31292
Hmm - that sounds ideal. I'd probably better go into Rapha Manchester and have a look rather than trying to decide from a distance.

I am looking at a really light and packable ultralight wind shell. Got a black Mavic Cosmic Pro jacket, and love it, but it's not reflective enough for dark winter or night time riding.
So I had a look at the brevet one in orange or yellow. Any experiences and/or alternatives? -
• #31296
It is ultralight and super packable + visible and reflective so ticks all those boxes. It is not massively breathable though so can be a bit boil in the bag - more an emergency jacket than one to be riding tempo for long periods.

After umming and arring re sizing of rapha shorts I've opted to size down. The last pair of 34 inch randonne shorts I got measured up and 36 inch plus. I hope its the same with the technical shorts as I've ordered 32 inch and I'm not 32 inch anymore !
Is it me or have rapha moved toward more vanity sizing in the last few years ?
-
• #31298
For sure. I've dropped a size in jerseys (stayed the same weight) over the past few years.

That's what i love about the cosmic pro jacket. It doesn't steam up all that much because the fabric is perforated and stretchy at the back. Currently in use all the time over a gabba at around 0 to 5 ish degs when you're descending or need to keep cold wind or drizzle out. Shame its black and non reflective. There was a yellow version, but they don't make this model anymore.
Shadow Jersery doesn't do anything the Gabba doesn't, and the Gabba can be had for £100. I know Castelli is a bit "argh my eyes" but you can get a used Croix de Fer for the same price as a Shadow Jersey.
