  • ^^^Brasserie was a great call btw. Thanks for that. Early evening 2 courses for £21 menu. Folks lapped up the peace and quiet, unfussy food and good service. Would treat parents again.

  • Brilliant, glad it went well.

  • Every now and then, I like to go back and read the first post in this thread.

    A true pioneer.

  • Just standard practice, really.

  • Ok, thanks.

But they do have a "B" engraved on them.

The problem I mainly have with seasoned pans, and non stick pans, and enameled pans, is that it's all fine when I'm using it but others do not always exercise the same care.

At least stainless is relatively difficult to damage.

  • Salter have a "pan for life" carbon steel range. Picked up a few from TK Maxx, they're really rather decent.

But yeah, fuck letting anyone else use them

  • At least stainless is relatively difficult to damage.

Possible though. After I took that pic of the mejadra last week I went upstairs and got tucked into a few beers, leaving the dregs in the pan on the heat for well over an hour. Weirdly the contents didn't smoke or burn, just dried out into crispy grains but the base of the pan (inside and out) appears to have been permanently discoloured.

  • someone boiled dry one of my stainless saucepans for a good while, and whilst it did discolour the steel a bit, once the residues were scrubbed off, the pan was and is still perfectly usable.

  • Good shout about TKM, will have a look in there.

  • This morning’s breakfast
Colombian / Costa Rican mash up
    Arepa de Chocolo con queso
    Patacones
    Rice con black beans
    Two eggs

Delicious.. forgot to mention Borojo jelly..

  • This morning’s breakfast

Colombian / Costa Rican mash up
    Arepa de Chocolo con queso
    Patacones
    Arroz con frijoles negros
    Huevos

    FTFY

  • The Salter pans for life are not.

I have two, both from Saino's. Both fucked by standard use after less than a year. I now cannot fry eggs in them, with oil, without them sticking. Lame.

Cast iron are a nightmare if you have anyone else in the house that isn't a pan twat like you are.

TEFAL is the only way to go.

  • Ha - was just writing 'Dos eggs' and thought I'd scroll down a bit first.

  • i just ordered a MeatDouche BroBQ to go in my new backyard. it's got a smoker and everything.

  • just buy a cheap non stick pan from tk soxx every 6 months or so.

  • Where do you live now GHell?

  • Sydnimz.

  • When is the passive aggressive BBQ at yours where we can stand around and silently rubbish your technique whilst we drink all of your beer?

  • John Lewis standard stainless steel pans have been great for us. All still looking brand new and non stick after 3 years.

  • and kerning

  • Soon!

Well, as soon as our table arrives. It's currently in a shipping container somewhere off the coast of Portugal. You and yours are on the list.

  • Another fast food horror; do you like hash browns? do you also like tacos?

    Behold the Potaco

  • would.
