  • One could argue Uran.

  • He’s twice finished as the runner up in a GT before though, at Sky and Quick-Step.

  • Not the tour though no?

    Anyway, I did say argue!

  • @andyp - We actually almost went to Oulu for the week. Was trying to find somewhere to camp/hike for midsummer. Ended heading east instead. Was it for work? Do get in touch if you're coming through - even if just a quick olut or kahvia before a flight.

  • It was all a bit last minute - had a 45 min transfer through Helsinki on the way out, which was hectic. My flight back yesterday was delayed so I ended up spending 5 hours in Helsinki airport, should've arranged to meet but I'd gone through passport control before finding out about the delay so I was stuck airside.

  • No, it's not the Tour and second at the Tour is worth more than second at the Giro. But he was an established rider before he joined Vaughters, and doesn't, yet, seem to have been afflicted by the curse that the team has. Look at Dan McLay, was winning races the last two years on a small team, moves to EF and he's won a solitary race I think, but should be in a team with more support.

  • What about young riders, they seem to have kept hold of some decent talent in Dombrowski and Cathy?

  • I really, really liked Andrew Talansky.

You almost can't spell talent and sky without Talansky - that's what I used to say.

  • Dombrowski beat Fabio Aru to win the Baby Giro in 2012. He may be talented, but he doesn't win races. He's best GC finish in a GT is 34th, and I've never seen him doing as good a job as TGH did for Thomas at the Dauphine.

Carthy did well at Caja Rural, but has he progressed since joining EF? I don't think so.

I know they don't have a huge budget, but I think EF consistently underperform and are, arguably, the poorest team in the WT, full of English speaking journeymen.

  • Blimey.

  • Peter Sagan is using his nat champs as a bit of a training ride so attacked solo with 170km to go and took a three minute lead

  • Do you have a link for streaming this?

  • Ta! I am proxy

  • Apparently the chasing group got to him so he attacked again and put a minute and a half back into them for a laugh.

  • Getting the epo in early I see...

  • Doesn’t he usually let his brother win the national champs to help his market value. Never usually enters.

  • Ah see it was only once before.

  • I think Sagan did this when he felt confident he has a shot at Worlds, so that to have two jerseys in the family? I guess this year - not so much, with Innsbruck track...

  • I’m struggling to think of a rider who has gone to Team Vaughters and improved.

    Wiggins ?

  • scroll to top of page....

  • In ex-pro cyclist news, anyone know how the Gaimon-Cancellara show down went?

  • It's this Sunday apparently.
