Pompetamine or something with a custom fork thrown in (that doesn’t need to be Australian obvs).
It’s basically an old school mtb 🤔

This is pretty much what my Genesis Fortitude adventure is...apart from internal routing. Velo Orange Piolet or Polyvalent also relevant, again don't think they have internal routing.

@Silly_Savage surly ogre looks good except for the routing. TBH all the options I've seen so far don't include internal routing so it might be something I have to give up. The Ulv looks too expensive. Don't feel I know anywhere near enough about mtb frames or standards to attempt anything clever.
@frankenbike thanks - will look into those.
@miro_o where do i even buy a pompetamine from? Are they discontinued?

Trek 920?
Weighty but if that's not an issue...
Edit. Not internal routing after all.
-
• #18931
Soma Wolverine ticks a lot of boxes too-again, not internally routed...
-
• #18932
the fortitude framesets look pretty well priced, thanks.
-
• #18933
Trek and Soma both nice bikes (especially the latter) but no internal... also concerned the Soma has closer to road geo - always looked pretty long?
-
• #18934
Steel tho. 150 quid would probably get you internal routing from Vaz or somewhere
-
• #18935
internal routing
Makes absolutely no sense ever. Especially not in this thread
-
• #18936
eh, i always understood that internal cabling kept salt out and added longevity to your functional bike. Have I been misinformed?
-
• #18937
It's not particularly long but the headtube is low which exaggerates it I think. I've a MK1 and sized down and love it, not sure if the geo has changed since then. Lack of internal routing doesn't really bother me!
-
• #18938
Full length outer does this though
-
• #18939
^ That said, I'd want internal too. Looks nicer
-
• #18940
-i was afraid to express this opinion in this thread
if i'm planning on running a rear dynamo light, internal looks so much cleaner.
-
• #18941
Agreed, but you can do that to any frame in five minutes with a drill and some grommets
-
• #18942
functional aeros?
-
• #18943
Well, in my mind full cable housing will create more friction and cause bigger problems over time with shifting and braking. It is more expensive and more wasteful. It is a bigger faff changing cables and it is a ball ache for the frame builder to construct.
Only real disadvantage for external cables is when frame bags collide with cable routing.

• #18944
the roads from october to april here are super gritty, wet and salty so i just want something that will protect the metal from corrosion as much as possible.
@TvH - ducting would be best, rather than just holes. Maybe you're right that its a pain in the ass, though if its a mass production frame, who cares?
-
• #18945
But you are wrong tho. Internal or full cables won't help you. Shit still gets in there and you just end up with more friction.
Keep bikes clean and store indoors. -
• #18946
And use cable liners?
-
• #18947
Etap?
-
• #18948
fair enough - i'd still like internal for the aesthetic reasons. It isn't a deal breaker, however.

You do you friend
Best bet might be something monstercrossy like a Genesis Vagabond, Salsa Fargo, etc.? and a new fork
