• Haha, flame on. I read the first few pages, then realised the amount of spam and skipped ahead to see what eventually happened. I don't think you need to live in Whistler to appreciate not being thrown OTB when riding trails. 69,5 is still quite steep and not really needed unless racing. I rode Yeti's "XC" bike the other day, and it was amazing. 2 degrees slacker than this, and a bit longer.

  • Have you considered mtb skills training?

  • It's 68.5, not 69.5.

A 66 degree head angle didn't stop me going otb trying an ill-advised drop while bikepacking, funnily enough, nor have I died riding numerous rigid retro bikes with 71 deg head angles down reasonably steep chutes.

    Pinkbike is that way >>>>>

  • 2 degrees slacker than this

Which would put the front axle a whole 17mm further forwards. If that's all that's stopping you from going OTB, you be doing something wrong.

No really, 69.5 isn’t steep - check out the trek a few pages back at 72.

Remember this is an FS bike and the head angle stays reasonably constant as it goes through it’s travel - unlike a hard tail.
