Great so far. I wouldn't use it to scan high res copies of photos but for a document scanner it's perfect.

Alternatives to Open Camera?

I find it occasionally glitchy and it appears to be quite demanding on my, admittedly ageing, phone.

Anyone want a Nokia 6.1 (2018) for cheaps? No box, or original headphones as they went in the washing machine (were rubbish anyway). Cheaps is relative, of course. Tiny, tiny chip on the copper bezel bit. Can take photos if anyone is interested.

No log files that are easily accessed, so I have no clue what's wrong. It doesn't say wrong username/password/EAP/domain or anything. Just keeps repeating that cycle for ever.

Tried 'Forget' then re-connect?

Gmail app on S3 was very easily searched, returned email history going back years v.quickly. On A5 it returns very little & just hangs like it is still searching.

V.frustrating. Is this a known thing with a fix or a better email app these days?

Last week of May was pleasantly surprised by my LG G4, (purchased Dec 2015, bootlooped motherboard replaced, twice, by LG July 2017), informing me it had a software update available. Now rocking the V20m-234-15 software.
Only noticeable difference; phone seems to run hotter if recharging battery whilst on wifi in any room where the BT homehub isn't.

Yep, Vodafone had a ridiculous offer, just £215! Now it's out of the 2-year warranty, I'm very conscious about it getting 'hot'.
I'm also aware I will have to replace it, probably later this year, as replacement LG batteries get scarcer. I was glancing at the Huawei P20Pro. The botched Camera function at launch might mean Huawei are more likely to drop the price in Nov/Dec to shift some units.

A3 is fast on gmail searches. Oreo.

Ta, hoping to change/improve app rather than replace phone tho...

Any good tablets out at the mo? want something for browsing/video.

I bought this for general video, PDF's, Comics and more importantly, Photo Editing.
The screen is superb. Retina quality. I can't fault it one bit.
Hardware has been really impressive too. It's small but dense. Quality is pretty good for what it is. Obviously no design award winner or ultra quality, but it has surpassed all my expectations.

Which app are you using for photo editing? Lightroom, or is there something better out there?

Lightroom for workflow and Snapseed for editing. I like the layout, UI design and especially the accuracy of gestures. I find I undo less with Snapseed than any other app. The colour rendition is really accurate as well.
I haven't dug into what colour profiling is used, but so far it's been surprisingly accurate between that and a calibrated monitor.

@cake decent enough if you're just multi tasking. Reviews say the battery is a bit of a weak point, but I haven't experienced that to be honest. It does invite you to put the screen in full brightness though. It's that impressive.

is there a way of removing Google assistant ? keeps on asking to be turned on with home button when browsing, I've tried turning on then disabling via settings keeps on asking.
I don't want it on ffs Google assistant fuck off.

Say 'Hey Google. Fuck off.'

thanks I've tried the fuck off Google method but it came back.
So anoying every time I got the home button it pops up. m7st have been an auto update as it wasn't doing it a few weeks ago.

..to people that turned their old android phones into mp3 players -

I have a Galaxy A5 that I want to turn into a mp3-player, might leave a weather app and an egg timer on there as well but basically it shall be a very easy to use and reliable mp3 player.

I deleted / deactivated all the shit on there, did a factory reset and let it update (which, annoyingly, installed all the shit from T-Mobile again, plus various other shit; I again deleted / deactivated all I could).

Since this shall be a reliable / idiotproof device that will be used by an elderly person there can't be any fucking apps asking for nonsense / updates and whatnot, so my question is basically should I go through the trouble of completely wiping ("rooting"?) this, or will I only introduce more trouble for myself and, worse, for the person using it later on.
You notice I'm not familiar with android phones at all.

Also what is the best / user-friendly mp3-player for android?

Bit late and not in keeping with the thread but an iPad is probably your best bet, as the cheap one is probably the best deal around at the moment.

Will it need internet connectivity?
