hodinkee's stock response is that they are watch enthusiasts, therefore they don't bother writing about shit watches. They then usually link to this one article written by a guy that escapes me right now.
But they do at least say stuff in the vein of "it would have been nice to see", or "it's a shame that..."... even if its immediately followed by a qualifier for why it's still amazing.
Pretty sure one of the main guys used to be in advertising.
Makes me wonder if there would be demand for a genuinely critical watch review site. Then again, the manufacturers would never send you their watches for review.
The thing, is what's the point? From my basically luddite perspective, unless the watch objectively fails at telling the time, the rest of it is just personal taste.
