This would entirely necessitate/ warrant a trip to BC for a week of riding Whistler bike park and then just tuck the guitar into an oversized bike box for the trip home. The import taxes and charges would cover the cost of the holiday alone!

Oh god. Found the Eastwood clearance page.

Think I prefer it in red but either way that's a weird beastie.

why cliff williams is an underrated genius.

Saw this guy twice in the past year. In fact he's a real guitar hero of mine. Not sure I can abide by the wanton destruction of vintage instruments tho! Madness.

I know the guy that owns the dragon Les Paul, he's here in Brisbane...

I kind of like the look of the homebrew drilled out back on it.
But... he name checks Tym (the guy you know right?) so he knows at least one luthier.... why wouldn't you get someone to do something so major properly (even above their objections); seems like there's a lot of meat removed from that stop tail area and (I think) neck tenon - it can't have been 100% that it wouldn't suffer from string tension.
By 'suffer', I mean 'snap' :)

I think it's madness as well but I bet he paid next to nothing for it so just did whatever he had to do to get it to play the way he wanted... I guess some people aren't that sentimental/precious about their instruments... Probably a much healthier attitude!!
I bought my first Les Paul in 1990 for £400, you couldn't buy anything for £400 in 1990... They were that unfashionable...

Saw The Beach Boys last night and Christian Love was playing a really nice looking guitar, looked kind of vaguely like a Strat but with a cool triangular pearloid pickguard. Not sure what it was?

Not that one but that's also lovely!

Let's hope the poor lad hasn't inherited anything but his dad's hairline... #loveisevil

Yyyyup! He's such an unbelievable douche. It just radiates off him in everything he does or says. Ewww. Loathe him.
I actually don't like the Beach Boys at all. I used to love the early stuff when I was a teenager and and the Holland/Carl & The Passions era stuff in my 20s but I never really got on with the "classic" stuff that you're supposed to love. I fucking hate Mike Love and I just found Brian made me too sad. And not in a good way. His profound sadness and brokenness is just too much to bear. All in all, much as I love Dennis and Carl, the beach boys as a whole just leave me feeling icky.

Yeah Mike Love is a bellend but I love The Beach Boys. Pet Sounds is up there in my favourite albums of all and God Only Knows is probably my favourite song of all time ever.

I know it’s objectively great but... dunno. Something about them just never clicked with me. They’re for other people.
-
• #5792
Mind you, I used to feel the same aboutloads of stuff until it suddenly made sense and I completely reassessed my taste.
-
• #5793
The Beatles are still shit tho.
And Nick fucking cave.
-
• #5794
Then again I still like Whitesnek so can probably be safely ignored on any number of topics.
-
• #5795
Yyyyep! The Beatles are not shit. You just don’t like them. Which is fine.
Cave is one of the guys I had a late change of heart on. Took me years to get what other people saw in the music. I get it now. Not a massive fan but I do get it.
-
• #5796
I get why people don’t like the Beatles tho. *double thumbs up
-
• #5797
I love the Beach Boys, from the early stuff through the weird stuff and right up to the later croony/totally out of touch stuff... Mike is a massive cunt...
I hate the Beatles but I quite like a lot of their tunes, does that make sense?

Been playing the Better Call Saul theme all morning. Led to this interview with Barrie. He’s such a tasty player. http://www.theguitarmagazine.com/interviews/interview-little-barrie/
I wonder what they sound like... As a design freak, I love them... As a guitar player they pretty much threaten all my aesthetics...
Would love one with the tremolo he's talking about developing, smart guy... I'm coming around to new generation guitars, these aren't so far away from the Travis Beans that he refers to in his interview anyway...
